A few days later, Cecilia stood outside the local gym, the cool morning air doing little to ease her anxiety. She glanced up at the gym's imposing façade, feeling a knot of dread twist in her stomach. The idea of stepping inside and confronting the intimidating world of weights and machines made her heart race. But she had made a deal with Kaelin, and she wasn't about to back out.

Taking a deep breath, she pushed open the door and entered the bustling gym. The sounds of clanking metal and rhythmic music filled the air, creating a cacophony that only heightened her unease. As she scanned the room, she spotted Kaelin near the free weights section, adjusting the weights on a barbell.

Cecilia's breath caught in her throat as she took in his appearance. Kaelin was wearing a fitted tank top that showcased his toned arms and shoulders, his hair slightly tousled from his warm-up. He looked more attractive than she had ever allowed herself to notice before, and the realization made her cheeks flush. She quickly scolded herself for thinking that way, shaking her head to dispel the inappropriate thoughts.

"Hey, Wilder," she called out, forcing a smile as she approached him. "Ready for your personal cheerleader to give you some moral support?"

Kaelin looked up, a grin spreading across his face. "Morning, Cee. Ready as I'll ever be. But you know, you could actually join me for a workout instead of just cheering me on."

Cecilia laughed nervously, rolling her eyes. "I'll stick to what I know, thanks. Just promise you won't judge me too hard for being clueless about all this."

"No judgment here," Kaelin said, extending his hand for a shake. Cecilia took it, feeling a spark of electricity at the touch. She quickly pulled away, ignoring the flutter in her chest.

They started with a warm-up, Kaelin leading the way on the treadmill while Cecilia kept pace beside him. She found it surprisingly easy to talk to him, their banter flowing naturally despite her nervousness.

"So, how's the software engineering world treating you?" Cecilia asked between breaths, glancing over at him.

"Not bad," Kaelin replied. "Lots of coding and problem-solving. Keeps me busy. How about you? How's the writing going?"

"Better," Cecilia admitted. "I managed to get a few chapters down the other night. Your advice really helped."

"I'm glad to hear it," Kaelin said, a hint of pride in his voice. "See? I told you you'd find your groove."

Cecilia smiled, grateful for his encouragement. After their warm-up, Kaelin guided her through a few basic exercises, showing her how to use the equipment and correct her form. Despite her initial reluctance, she found herself enjoying the challenge, especially with Kaelin's patient guidance.

"You're doing great," Kaelin said, handing her a towel as they finished a set. "Just a few more reps and you're done."

Cecilia groaned but nodded, wiping the sweat from her forehead. "I have to admit, this isn't as terrible as I thought it would be. Thanks for helping me out."

"Anytime," Kaelin replied with a grin. "You're actually pretty strong. Who knew?"

Cecilia laughed, feeling a sense of camaraderie with him that she hadn't expected. After their workout, they decided to grab lunch at a nearby café. The sun was shining, and the fresh air felt invigorating after the intense gym session. They found a cozy spot on the café's patio, settling in with their drinks and sandwiches.

"So, what's next on your writing agenda?" Kaelin asked, taking a sip of his mocha.

"Just trying to flesh out the characters more," Cecilia said. "Especially the dynamic between the two leads. I want their relationship to feel real, you know?"
