"winter evans? come to the main office please." i state in my usual dull, boring monotone voice over the PA.

i was meeting our newest employee, as our 10 year anniversary was coming up the knight nursery was indeed expanding, meaning we needed more staff. my colleague and manager marjorie had gone and hired someone "reliable". we'll see about that.

as he sat down his eyes locked onto mine, the deep blue piercing my core like a needle into fabric, sewing our eyes together. i cleared my throat and continued the interview, my head buzzing with a sudden new thought, a thought that hasn't been thought of in years.

killerman.

why did i get this same feeling? why did i feel the warm glow around him, like a comfort blanket you just want to wrap around yourself.

i got home this afternoon as i poured myself a wine as usual and got comfy on the sofa, the pile of bottles getting higher each coming day.

"dont let this become a habit"  they plead.
