VECNA'S CURSE - ( Six )

"You asshole!" Ashley shouts as her fist makes contact with the boy's nose. Eddie stumbles back in shock, reaching up to his nostril and feeling blood, barely noticing the shine of it in the dimly lit shack.

"Woah!" Steve yelled. He backed up until he was beside of Robin and out of the way, not wanting to get involved with his back against the wall and a weapon shading his throat again.

Eddie furrows his brows and looks up at the blonde. His expression is hurt, but changes to confused as he notices the tears in the corner of her eyes.

"Did someone flip a switch?" Dustin asked from behind Steve, referring to the sudden change in Ashley's attitude, and watched as Ashley gave Eddie a shove.

"You just left me!" She throws a punch at his right peck, "You dick!"

"I-" Eddie let out a huff as she continued to hit him. He wasn't sure what to do, so instead just watched as tears streamed down her face. "I'm sorry."

Then just as soon as she started, she stopped. She wiped the tears, giving Eddie a chance to wipe the blood from his nose, then met Eddie's eyes.

Her eyes glistened with moist tears, "I was terrified." She choked, sniffling.

"I was too." Eddie said. He suddenly claimed a spot on the floor, sitting down. "That's why I ran. I know it makes me a piece of shit, but I just- I couldn't stay there."

Ashley hears the apologetic tone and suddenly feels guilty. She sits across from him and pulls her knees to her chest, strategically arranging her legs so her cheer uniform wouldn't reveal anything. She wiped one last tear and sat there in silence, unsure what to say. The only words she had before were words of anger.

But now, she felt sorry for the boy and didn't have the words to express it.

"Eddie." Robin said softly. "I'm sorry if this isn't really a good time to ask... but what exactly happened back there with Chrissy?"

Eddie looks to Robin as she speaks, but as he hears Chrissy's voice, his eyes snap over to Ashley.

She gives him a look of encouragement, telling him with her eyes that it was okay to continue. That they could trust them.

He bites his lip and sits in silence for a minute before he speaks, eyes fixed on the floor as his soft words echoed through the shed. "I wasn't there when it started." He admits. "I was in my room getting..." he trails off, looking to Ashley as if to ask if he should continue. He didn't care whether someone knew about his drugs, but he wasn't sure if that was something she'd come after him later for sharing. But when she nods, he continues. "I was getting something stronger for Ashley, and uh- me too."

With each word, he seemed nervous. It was as if the police were questioning him, eyes on him with each thing he said. "I heard Ash- Ashley- yell my name and I came into the living room to see Chrissy just... frozen." He runs a hand down his face, squeezing his eyes shut. But they quickly flashed open and Ashley knew very well that it was because he saw the horrible view in his mind.

"Then suddenly she just started to levitate. She was pinned to the ceiling, lights flickering and then her bones started to snap one by one, eyes bleeding" He cringed, hearing the sound on repeat. Eddie stays silent for a moment, then quickly forces a nervous laugh. "You all think I'm crazy, don't you?"

He looks from person to person, watching in shock as they each shook their head. "Ashley told us everything." Robin says. "We trust her and she told us to trust you, so we are."

Eddie turns and meets Ashley's eyes, smiling lightly. That meant a lot to him.

It was odd. Everything ugly between Ashley and Eddie seemingly vanished and was now replaced with guilt, sympathy and tears.

And all it took was for them to see something that'd scar them the rest of their life.

But Eddie blinks and shakes his head. "Bullshit." He says. "I know how crazy this sounds. You guys probably think I need to lay off the drugs."

"I mean you should." Dustin mumbles in the back of the room, but nobody hears it as Robin speaks over him.

"Eddie, I know this is a lot to take in but believe us when we say we believe you."

Eddie fixes his gaze on the floor. He was unsure what to believe, because he didn't want to believe any of it. He wanted to wake up to his annoying ass alarm and discover it was all a dream.

"You know how people think Hawkins is haunted... or cursed? Because there is always some weird shit going on?" Ashely suddenly asks.

Eddie nods.

"They aren't too far off." Dustin finishes. "There is this world beneath ours. One a heck of a lot different than ours and sometimes it leaks into ours."

"Like what? Ghosts?" He asks, looking up to Dustin and waiting for a response. When it's Ashely who responds, he turns to her and listens.

"Something far worse." She says. She watches as Eddie swallows the lump in his throat. "Monsters."

"This isn't the first time we've dealt with this stuff." Dustin says.

Eddie's eyes widen. "Shit man." He says. "You really do believe me?"

"We think these Monsters or whatever were what killed Chrissy." Ashley explains.

Eddie sits there and stares at her as if nothing was turning in his head. Behind his eyes were blank. He didn't want to accept Chrissy was dead. That she was gone.

"Did you see anyone or anything there? Dark particles? Like... smoke or something?" Max finally says. Her voice is quiet, but it makes its way to both Eddie's and Ashley's ears, and if it wasn't for hear speaking up, Ashley likely would've forgot she was there.

Eddie shakes his head. He looks to Ashley, this time not looking away, as if, if he did, he'd break down. "There was nothing to see or touch" He said, "yet we still couldn't wake her. We tried to, but it was like she was under a spell." He says.

"A curse." Ashely says.

"Vecna's Curse." Dustin finishes.
