chapter 21

"stop!" alice spoke without looking at anyone else, keeping her eyes on the foggy forest behind where they played. ethan felt a cold shiver move down his spine and his eyes instantly landed on jasper who was beside him in a second.
"what's going on?" ethan questioned just as confused as bella who asked the same question to edward. "they were leaving then they heard us," alice informed her family as hunter grabbed her protectively by the shoulder.
"whose they?" ethan questioned once more as jasper placed his arm on his shoulder, much like edward did with bella. "vampires." jasper said with a blunt yet scared tone.
he wasn't scared for himself, he was scared for ethan.
"come on." edward encouraged the two humans to follow after him, both as confused as each other. "it's too late." carlisle ran after him as he spoke causing the two vampires to freeze.
jasper sighed. "keep this on." he took the cap off of his head and placed it on ethans, bella pulled down her hair at edwards command. "like that'll help, i can smell her from across the field." rosealie scoffed with an eye roll before glancing at the jaylin boy.
"stand near me." she looked at him with a small smile, her words much softer. ethan didn't hesitate to do as she said, especially in this situation.
as if on cue, three vampires emitted from the fog. ethan and bella both got shoved to the back of the group as they all walked forward. the brunette boy could feel his heart beating fast, for some reason, he had never been this nervous before.
the thunder continued to boom loudly from above before the new vampires and the cullens now stood face to face. there were three of them - two boys, and one girl.
the woman had gorgeous blonde, curly hair which suited her delicate and pale skin beautifully. however, looks could be incredibly deceiving. in the middle stood, what ethan presumed, was the leader. he had gorgeous dark skin which made his red eyes stand out significantly.
and then, there was the final one. he had his hair tied back in a ponytail, and his skin was fair but not as smooth as the womans appeared to be. the sight of the man and the woman frightened him more than the man in the middle. "i believe this belongs to you." the unidentified vampire held up a baseball before throwing it over.
