I'VE HAVE LEARNED BY NOW THAT THINGS NEVER GO MY WAY. EVER. And I had to learn to live with that. I knew that I needed to talk with Conrad, considering I had been avoiding him. I wasn't planing on discussing the kiss. Not yet. I wasn't exactly ready that conversation. I just needed some closure. I needed to figure out what he wanted—What I wanted.

But when belly asked me if I could help her get ready for her date with Cam—I couldn't say no to her and when she left with her date, I didn't want to call Winnie because I had to get ready for laurel's book party.

As I got ready my mind keep moving back and forth to the moments I had with Conrad since I've been here.

Quickly I finished my makeup before waking out of my room which was right next to Conrad's might I add I stood by his door for a second, trying to pull myself together, to build up the courage to actually knock on his door. Finally I knocked

"Who is it?" Conrad asked coldly

"It's just me." I told him softly

Quickly, he opened the door, Conrad stood inside the room, with a hand on the door Knox and stared at me

"Come on in." He muttered and walked away from the door.

I closed the door behind me. I walked towards his bay window and sat down. We were face to face. Eyes locked on each others.

"Hi." Conrad spoke softly

"Hi..." I picked at my fingernails, that were painted black

He gently placed his hand over mine and he pulled my hands down with his. He knew I was nervous

"You look beautiful." He muttered with a small smile

I was wearing a black skirt with my thigh high socks with a white crop top and a jean jacket

"Thank you."

"I want to talk about what been going on. With us."  I paused

He sniffled and he nodded

"Okay. Talk." Conrad told me

"Well, we almost kissed in the bathroom before the bonfire and then I see you kissing Nicole which I find really weird because you told she wasn't no one and now I find out she's my Deb big sister." I rambled on and one until he cut me off

"Kairo, stop, okay. If we're being honest Nicole is no one. She's simply obsessed with me, like most of the girls here. There's only you. Just give me another chance. I'm really am sorry for last summer, I've never meant to hurt you." Conrad told me softly as he moved closer towards me. He placed his hand on my cheek which fit perfectly. I leaned into his touch

"Okay. One more chance." You told him softly

He smiled "God, I waited years for this. For us. For us to be perfect."

"Years?" I questioned

He said years, plural

"What are you-"

"Let's go, everyone!" Susannah shouted form downstairs

"Uh, we gotta go..." Conrad mumbled

"Yeah, okay." I said

We walked downstairs and was met up with everyone except belly who was on a date.

Everyone was making there way out of the door when I grab Conrad forearm making him halt

"How long?" I asked him

"Kai-"

"How long, Conrad? Just answer, please." I demanded

"Conrad! Kairo!" My mom called from the front door trying to get everyone out the house and on the way to Laurel's book party

"Uh, we won't take long. I promise give us like five minutes, please Mom." I begged and she nodded and then pointed at us

"Don't be late. I mean it guys." She sternly told us

She closed the door behind her

"How long, Conrad?" I asked him

"I-I don't know, Kairo." He stuttered

"I just always knew, okay. I always knew you were it for me. And that when everything changed. I-I never looked at you like a sister but as something more." Conrad told me

"When were 15, I realized it all." Conrad muttered looking at me

"Just promise me you won't-" I cut Conrad off

"I won't avoid you or anything. I told you I would give you another chance and that's me doing it. I'm giving you another chance but we're taking things slow this time, okay?" I questioned

"Yes ma'am." Conrad nodded

After a little while we finally got into the car and drove to Laurel's book party. When we arrived Conrad spilt off and I walked up to Jeremiah and Steven who looked extremely bored already

"Why do you guys look so...gloomy?" I asked them

"This is shit is boring, Kairo." Jeremiah said and Steven looked at him with furrowed eyebrows

"Sorry, bro. I know we're here to support our lovely laurel parks but you gotta admit, this shit is boring." Jere stated as I sat down next to him on the couch

He wrapped his arm around my shoulder

I looked up and saw Conrad downing Chardonnay. I watched him gulping down the wine like it was water.

"So, why aren't you with him? Didn't you guys make up?" Steven asked me

"Uh, kind of. We're taking things slow. I don't wanna get my heart broken again. First off, I'm too young for that shit. Secondly, I should be with someone who's gonna treat me right. No tmi or shit but I need a guy who's gonna mess my lipstick up not mess my mascara up." I stated to them and the let that sink in

"You're right. Conrad did mess up a lot last summer but he tried to do right but you. He just did it in the wrong way. His way. The Conrad way." Jere told me

"If that's the way you want to put it, then fine." I muttered

I watched Conrad and he locked eyes with me as he swallowed the last bit of his wine down before he was called over by Laurel making his break the eye contact.
