"You okay Rose? You've been distant since Saturday."

I smiled at Dana. I don't know what I'd do without her, she's always been there for me but I couldn't drag her back into this mess again. She was also scarred in the process.

"I'm fine. Just tired I guess."

"Don't give me that Rose. Something's up, please tell me." The pleading in her voice made me falter.

"Seriously I'm okay, just nervous for my math test. its trig' and I'm not good at it."

She gave me a look of sympathy.

"Don't worry. you'll do great. you always do because you revise."

"I hope so." I shrugged and gave her a small smile.

We made our way down to class and we both saw Jackson coming round the corner. His eyes went wide when he saw me and I smiled at him but he ignored it, walking straight past me. my heart dropped. that's the reason why I've been feeling low since Saturday.

When I returned to the dance floor, Jackson could see I was shaken up about something so told Dana that he was taking me home. when he dropped me off, it was like some one had transported me into an alternate universe. He opened my car door, helped me out, stared at me for a few seconds then rounded his car, got in and drove away.

Now, he was doing exactly the same but in front of everyone.
I huffed, annoyed.

"I swear, boys. they are so confusing."
Dana muttered.

I don't even know why I was annoyed. we weren't a couple so why should I bother. I flipped my hair dramatically, and wound my arm through Dana's.

"Who needs 'em"

She smiled and laughed.

"Right."

We headed to class with our heads held high.

The next evening we both headed to Macy's. A cute diner in the centre of town. it was like an 80's movie scene but better 'cause the food was actually edible. Dana and I headed inside and found a booth only to see that half the school was already there, revising or just hanging out. To our dismay we were there for the former. Dana had tests coming up and I had a pop quiz on biology, psychology and English round the corner.

"Heya girlies, what can I do for you today?"

"Hey Lexy." We chorused.

"Can I have a strawberry milkshake please?" Dana enquired as Lexy scribbled it down.

"May I have a cheese burger with an ice cream sundae?"

She nodded and gave us a smile.

"I'll have it out in just a bit."

We both thanked her and got our books out.

"So... Describe how the heart operates?"

"What? Like, how it transports blood or how it contracts and stuff?"

Dana rolled her eyes but nodded.

"The former."

"Okay... the vena cava takes deoxygenated from the body to the hearts's right atrium and down to the right ventricle so that the pulmonary..."

"...artery..."

"Right, artery will take this deoxygenated blood to the lungs. Then, the oxygenated blood will go to the left atrium through the pulmonary vein so that the aorta can take it to the rest of the body."
