3rd Person's POV

"Greetings, Your highness, the Empress Dowager" they said in unison after bowing to her presence in her chamber

The empress dowager looked around until she saw Lei fao's silhouette, she smirked before commanding them to raise their heads

"Lei fao" she said in a firm voice that made Lei fao flinched

"Yes, your highness?"

"I heard you are the one that causes the empress to suffer from kneeling for a long time" she smirked

'Ah, she's accusing me but she's right. If i said i was not ill be accused that i was lying but if i agreed ill be punish' lei fao thought to himself

"Yes." He said accepting his fate

"Accusing the empress falls under a serious crime, however since the emperor made the decisions himself i have no authority to lift up her ground at that time. Therefore, you should accept the same punishment as what the empress did" the empress dowager pointed towards her attendant, signing him to give the salts he were carrying

The attendant poured the salt on the ground, in front of Lei Fao

'What? I thought this case was done? Damn, she were just looking for excuse to make me suffer' he thought before kneeling down hesitantly

'Well, she's the empress dowager. What can i, a consort, could do?' He thought

"Good. Now, give us our delicacies" the empress said waving to the maidservants

The maidservants bowed after placing the desserts and tea on the table and leaves quietly

"Let us take our time" the Empress Dowager said before taking a sip that made the consorts take a sip too, leaving Lei Fao beside them kneeling

His legs were numb and aching but he couldn't utter a single word

'Be glad that you're the empress dowager' he thought, cursing her out in his head

An hour passed and Lei Fao couldn't feel his legs anymore. Suddenly, the door opened

The emperor, Shin Xe-yi entered the chamber without announcement

"What are you doing, mother?" He said coldly after seeing Lei Fao on his knees, he went closer and pulled Lei Fao up gently but Lei Fao wobbled making him almost fall down, however Shin Xe-yi caught him and decided to lift him up instead. Carrying him in front that made Lei Fao's cheeks reddened

Lei Fao was about to say something but was interrupted by the empress dowager

"You! What are you doing?!" She shrieked at Shin Xe-yi

"And what is the meaning of this, mother?" Shin Xe-yi once again asked her coldly making the empress dowager stunned

Not knowing what to say, she stayed quiet knowing that her own son could kill her at any moment like how he killed his own father to sit on the throne, but she was confused as to why he was mad

The room was filled with silence, no one have the audacity to talk in front of the emperor not until Lei Fao who was still being carried, coughed awkwardly

"Uhmm.. you could put me down, your highness?"
