pick up, damn it!
one.[ incoming call from iwa:p ]
TOORU oikawa swiped on the green answer button and put him on speaker. "Oi, where are you? the match is about to start!" hajime iwaizumi's voice. something tooru would like to hear more in person-and something he would never admit to. "sorry iwa, the bus took a while to fill up. i'm almost there," the sound of the ball hitting what tooru assumed to be the arena floors was caught by hajime's speaker. seems like he just got there as well, the sound gradually fading away as the boy searched for a seat. originally, hajime was supposed to take a long nap, but had been invited by the one and only tooru dumb-kawa to go watch the match between karasuno and shiratorizawa, to which tooru wishes both teams could lose. more shiratorizawa though. the brunette finally got off as the doors opened at the stop, half-sprinting inside the arena. hajime texted him that he's seated at the back, right around the entrance. but before he could take a step inside, a girl recognized him, unfortunately.
"gah, oikawa! oikawa-san!" a girl yelled, to which tooru flinched and hid his face in his jacket, walking faster. "oikawa-san! are you here to watch the match between Karasuno and Shiratorizawa?" a beautiful red-head had come up to him, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear. hajime rolled his eyes, why else would he be here? to buy stale hot dogs? he'd gotten up anyway, ready to pull the charming boy away. "ah, i guess. i'm just here so i can have the satisfaction of having to see one of them lose though." he explained, the girl laughing. "haha, you're so funny, oikawa-san!" tooru smiled. "my name is kaori haruno, you may not recognize me, but i'm your junior," the brunette nodded, "how could i not have recognized such a pretty face?" he remarked, watching as the junior blushed and hid her face. "well-"
"hey." tooru felt a chill run down his spine. "sorry, kaori-chan. let's talk again next time!" he waved to the poor frightened girl and turned around. he didn't need to check if it was his iwa-chan. aside from hearing his voice all the time since elementary school, no one else would have him get his shit straight. no one but him. "do you seriously still have the time to play around?" hajime scoffed. tooru smiled, finally hearing his iwa-chan's voice. threatening, but in his mind, it's endearing. like flirty banter. maybe the banter is their love language. maybe hajime knows that. does he know that?"oi! are you even listening? you're grinning like an idiot." tooru snaps back, and finally realizes he's the only one still standing. iwa-chan, good choice picking the seats at the very back. he quickly sat down beside hajime, the game already starting with shiratorizawa already having a point. "sorry iwa, i was just thinking of who's face would be more satisfying to see when either team loses between ushiwaka and tobio." hajime rolled his eyes. "you've gotta stop holding grudges against tobio." "not ushiwaka?" "oh yeah, and fuck him." tooru chuckled. "damn, they can't dig a single ball ushiwaka sends.." hajime remarks, his eyes widening. "serves them right!" tooru mocks, sticking his tongue out. "they can't see you. you know that, right?" tooru's tongue slowly crept back in his mouth, looking disrespected. "well, whatever! in my story, they both lose." hajime couldn't even begin to think about the possibilities of that happening.
they watched mostly in silence. mostly tooru glancing at hajime. mostly hajime ignoring tooru's glances, purposely raising his brow so tooru would know he's not so slick. mostly tooru looking away so obviously and covering his mouth with a curled hand, pretending to be focusing on the match.
on the fifth set, both teams looking like they're going to be one with the earth. hajime was clenching his arm rest, while tooru had his legs crossed, finally absorbing the game. karasuno at match point, and shiratorizawa's ushiwaka losing his cool. from there, they hit the final point, and finally score to a victory. karasuno won. hajime unclenched his arm rest, and let out the breath he had been holding. tooru remained indifferent. "this should've been more satisfying, but ushiwaka couldn't look more bothered!" hajime rolled his eyes, a little smile on his lips. "ugh, let's go iwa. i don't wanna be here for the awarding ceremony."
