It seems like the world had stopped for Lyney, what could have gone wrong in this performance? Everything was perfect until thing moment.
An arm and a mask stood out of the box.
"Is this, part of the show?" A member of the audience said in a worried tone
"Mr. Lyney, you are going to fix the stage, right?" Another member said.
Lyney was a lost of words, but he finally whispered to himself, "what happened?"
Paimon worried said to the Traveler, "Oh no, maybe this isn't part of the show"
"This performance is over! Medical staff, with me. Gardes, secure the scene and detain all the performers. Seal the exits, no one is allowed in or out at this time!" Neuvillette yelled to the audience.
"Lyney..." Y/N said to herself, thinking of what could have gone wrong. Maybe it was the pyrotechnics, or the amount of water it was on there.
"Yes, th—that's right! If this was just an accident, then we must investigate the cause. But if this was all part of some scheme, then... then those accountable will not escape the judgment of the God of Justice!" Lady Furina said to the audience. Most like yelled, but Lady Furina always spoke like that.
"No need to be alarmed. We will get to the bottom of this soon." Neuvillette said to Aether, Paimon and Y/N
The three of them nodded.
I know this isn't the best moment... but I would love to paint this. Y/N thought. Get your act together, this is not the time!
The guards started their investigation and some minutes later they said to Monsieur Neuvillette
"Unfortunately, the person who was in the magic box has been pronounced dead. His name was Cowell, one of the assistants in Lyney's magic troupe." Neuvillette said.
"I knew him... I once painted some flowers for him, though I don't know a lot about him" Y/N said.
Neuvillette hummed in response, "that's fine"
"And how exactly did Cowell died?" Paimon asked.
"Apparently, the fireworks on stage ignited the ropes that were suspending the water tank, which then caused the tank to fall onto the stage." Neuvillette responded. "We still don't know why we found Cowell in the magic box instead of the young lady..."
"We still haven't found the young lady, so this incident might be connected to the serial disappearances of young women." Neuvillette said.
"Oh, the one that Charlotte mentioned a while ago..." Paimon said.
"If you put it like that..." Aether murmured.
"I say that our powerful magician, Mr. Lyney, is now the prime suspect for the serial disappearances case." Lady Furina said from her chair, pointing at Lyney.
"Lyney would never do anything like that!" Y/N said to Lady Furina.
"You are only saying that because you are his sister, you might as well be working with him." Lady Furina answered.
"This all occurred during your magic show, did it not? The missing girl disappeared after being chosen, did she not? The deceased is one of Lyney's assistants, wasn't he?" Lady Furina said.
"Now that I think about it, that whole speech about magicians making things disappear was nothing more than a provocation, a bald-faced challenge!" Lady Furina said and the crowd gasped.
