"Gold eyes!" Jatila rasped, a cloud of smoke escaping his lips as the pungent scent of cannabis filled the air.

The Champa king strode into the clearing, radiating a magnificent aura that would have made any normal man bow in respect but the head of the outcast community was made of sterner stuff; he remained stubbornly seated, eyeing the king with barely hidden disdain. With a fake grin, the man chirped, "Been a while, eh?"

He noted Gold eyes scope out the whole clearing, before flashing a charming smile.

'Good looking jerk!' Jatila fumed to himself angrily. 'Think his higher birth give him right to do whatever!'

"Quite unexpectedly early in the year, Jatila," Karna intoned, seating himself regally upon the Peepal stump, and the Chandal chief could smell disapproval marring the King's already sardonic tone. "I did not anticipate that I would be gracing you with my presence so soon, nearly midway between two Vasant Utsavs."
