One evening, as Ava was relaxing at home, her phone buzzed with a message. She opened it to find an image of Kevin kissing another girl. Her heart sank, a storm of emotions swirling inside her. Hurt, anger, and betrayal battled for dominance. Without thinking, she grabbed her keys and headed straight to Kevin's place.
She arrived at his door, her tears blurring her vision. She banged on the door, her heart pounding with a mix of fury and pain. Kevin opened the door, his face filled with concern and confusion as he saw her distressed state.
"Ava, what happened? Are you alright?" he asked, anxiety creeping into his voice.
Ava's voice trembled with rage. "You are asking me if I'm alright? I should have known a Casanova like you wouldn't be loyal! I should have never trusted you!" She thrust her phone at him, showing the incriminating image.
Kevin's face paled as he saw the picture. "Ava, please, let me explain," he begged, desperation in his eyes. "It's not what it looks like."
Ava shook her head, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Explain? You think you can just talk your way out of this? You're a playboy, Kevin. You probably have a lot of excuses lined up."
Kevin reached out to her, but she stepped back, her eyes blazing with hurt. "Please, Ava. Just give me a chance to explain. It's not what you think."
Ava's voice was choked with emotion. "I trusted you, Kevin. I let myself fall for you, and this is what I get? No more lies, no more games. We're done."
Kevin's heart ached as he watched her turn and walk away, his mind racing to find a way to make her understand the truth. As the door closed behind her, he felt a crushing sense of loss, knowing that he had to find a way to fix this, to prove his love and loyalty to Ava.
Kevin raced after Ava, desperation in his voice as he pleaded, "Ava, please, just give me a chance to explain! It's not what it looks like!"
Ava didn't turn back, her resolve unwavering. "I don't want to hear it, Kevin. I can't do this anymore."
The next morning, with a heavy heart, Ava drafted her resignation letter. She marched into Kevin's office, her emotions barely contained as she handed him the letter.
Kevin quickly read the letter and immediately shook his head. "Ava, I'm not accepting this."
Her eyes widened in disbelief. "What do you mean you're not accepting it?"
Kevin leaned forward, his expression firm. "Haven't you read the company's clause? You have to inform us a month before resigning. Effective immediately, this letter is rejected."
Ava's frustration boiled over. "So, what now? You're just going to force me to stay here?"
Kevin's voice softened, yet his determination was evident. "I'm not forcing you, Ava. But this gives me time to prove that what you saw isn't what you think. I need you to give me that chance."
Ava looked at him, torn between her anger and the love she still felt for him. "And what makes you think I'll even listen?"
Kevin sighed deeply, his eyes meeting hers with sincerity. "Because I know you, Ava. I know you want to believe the best in people. Just give me a month to show you the truth."
Ava clenched her fists, her heart conflicted. "Fine. One month. But don't expect me to make this easy for you."
Kevin nodded, relief washing over him. "I wouldn't expect anything less. Thank you, Ava. You won't regret this."
As Ava walked out of his office, Kevin felt a glimmer of hope. He had a month to prove his innocence and win back the woman he loved. And he was determined to do whatever it took.
Their professional lives resumed in a tense but routine manner. Kevin often found himself stealing glances at Ava, longing to bridge the gap between them. He would frequently find excuses to bring her close under the guise of work.
