Since she was little, Mia knew there was something wrong with her. She barely managed to make friends at school and her relationship with her family was not very good either, despite Mia trying her best to fit in with them. She was like a ghost in her house, she always went unnoticed.
His relationship with his father was like that of a cat and a mouse. Even though Mia tried to make him proud, Ward always found a way to put her down. And after years of repeating the same insults day after day, Mia ended up believing them. But what hurt her the most was seeing her father so close to her sister Sarah. Why did he love her? Seeing them so happy together only made him believe that she really had a problem.
And that's how Mia slowly began to enter a dead end.
I guess the fact that no one noticed the way her smile faded made her think no one cared. Not even her family, who spent all their time with her, noticed how her joy turned into sadness.
That was a serious mistake since Mia began to fall into a black hole due to all the unpleasant feelings that tormented her at night. Self-harm and depressive episodes were now part of her life.
But when Hurricane Agatha devastates the entire Outer Banks, Mia will find herself involved in a series of mysteries that will lead her to meet new people and realize the reality of things.
