Who is a leader?

"NHYIRA, HERH NHYIRAAA!"

"COME AND EAT!!"

Nhyira reluctantly rises to a sitting position. He stretches his lungs a bit then takes his phone to check the time; 8:14 AM....

 AH!!

He lounges back into sleeping mode. Its Midterms, AKA pre vacation. These are the days he needs way more sleep. 8 AM? Nah, he won't buy it. In school he would wake up at 4 AM, even though the rising bell is 5, just to bath. Now that's he's at home, he might as__

"HERH!! ARE YOU STILL SLEEPING THERE?" His mom shouts.

"NO PLEASE, I'M-I'M-I'M PUTTING ON MY SLIPPERS!" Nhyira shouts back.

He quickly slaps himself and puts on his slippers; 8:14 AM? Really?

"You have been putting on those slippers for 10 minutes now" His mother comments as Nhyira lazily sits at the dining table.

"Well, I'm very careful of what I do. Time is finite, and I must use it efficiently," Nhyira replied.

"Hmm" mom says and places his food in front of him.

"Thank you. Do you really have to wear the shades in the morning?"

"Wow" Mom says sarcastically.

She takes in a deep breath and Nhyira sarcastically does the same.

" It's the onions Nhyira. You know it's the onions," She responds.

"I mean you could just look away while cutting."

His mom gives him a stare with a partial exposure of her eyes.

"Your shades are falling off," he jokes.

They both laugh a little; Nhyira always has the best of jokes regarding her shades.

"Anyway, I'm going to the prison today," she comments as she places the pan in the sink.

"The prison they are keeping Derick?"

"Yes. Officer Bana will accompany me," she says and fixes her shades in place.

"Oh, I forgot to tell you. I'm going to Thomas' place as well," Nhyira comments while eating.

"You know if I didn't know his parents, I would have spoilt your plans erh. Going somewhere without my permission is?"

"Sheer stupidity, I know but I really need to go. Pleeeeease??" Nhyira says in a high voice.

" Sure. Oh, maybe Mr Coffie can take you."

As soon as she said that name, he tried to hide his face in his bowl.

"Really Nhyira?" Celine asks.

"I just, you know....... I don't feel as comfortable yet in his car. (she throws her hands) Its old and_"

"All you should think about is if it moves!"

"Oh mummy!!! I can take an Uber!"

"With who's money? You don't even contribute to your school fees!"

"Now that's unfair!" Nhyira says on the side. " Why does he always have to drive me everywhere, he's not dating me!!!"

Mom simply takes an audible breath to know he crossed a border.
