Shakir AND DJ SAT DOWN on the couch in DJ's house to watch film of Connor Mcgregor vs Nick Diaz, and the 37-year-old veteran broke down the fight.
"Making the switch isn't going to be easy," DJ said truthfully.
"I know, but I'm going to be training with you."
"You ready?"
"Hell yeah."
Shakir loved the sport of boxing. He didn't know why he wanted to make the switch to be 100% honest.
He knew he wanted a new challenge and he unconsciously knew he wanted to fulfill the dreams his dad had for him and follow in DJ's footsteps.
"I want to be the best." Shakir blurted out. DJ smiled and nodded. "And you can be the best." DJ followed up with.
Shakir talked about the switch with DJ, but he never knew if he really wanted to make the switch.
But now he knew he was sure he even asked DJ to contact Dana White for him. "I'm tryna work now," Shakir said as he got up and began shadowboxing.
DJ laughed. "You need to recover, your last fight ended not even a week ago."
Shakir nodded in agreement but kept working on his technique. Silence filled the room till Shakir's phone rang in DJ's pocket.
He took his phone so he could pay attention completely on film. DJ pulled the phone out and looked at who was calling him.
"Who is B with a pink heart?"
Shakir smiled blushing a little. "It's Billie."
DJ handed him his phone. "Ohh your girlfriend."
Shakir took his phone and shook his head "Not my girlfriend."
Shakir answered and put the phone to his ear. "Hello."
Shakir sat down and talked to Billie a little, in his words, she won't talking about anything until she brought up something.
"Wanna be my plus one to the gala?"
"What the fuck is a gala?"
"Basically where all the real real famous people show off the outfits." DJ butted in.
Shakir nodded his head. "When is it?" He asked.
"In a week."
"Sure I'll go."
Shakir couldn't see it, but Billie was smiling. "Bet."
