THE BIG DAY had finally arrived.
Two weeks had passed in a blur and while I busied myself with work, it wasn't enough to distract me from my upcoming nuptials. We had made it to Greece a few days after the engagement party to cover all legal bases and the Petroses and the Chamberses were all under one roof at the Petros villa in Athens.
Aleksander had pulled all the strings he could to fast track everything, and while my parents had been spending time with Aren's, I made sure to pull my classic disappearing act. Aren did too and our families graciously allowed us our own time before the wedding.
"How are you feeling, Mils?" Wren spoke as she walked into the bedroom allocated to me with Ainsley and Anjali in tow. They were my bridesmaids and dressed in their soft pink dresses already.
I had yet to get into my wedding dress, which my mother had pulled strings to have specifically designed to my dream dress. The amount of money poured into the wedding was honestly mind-blowing but as the son and daughter of two billionaires, it meant we had the best money could buy.
I sighed as I turned in my chair to face my best friends. Hair and makeup had already visited me and I was waiting for my mother to bring my dress. "Nervous." I answered simply and willed myself to not bite my lip anxiously. "I cannot believe I am getting married in an hour."
Cold feet didn't even cut it for me. Icy feet, maybe or bone chillingly cold feet since the reality that I would be married to Aren made me feel as if I had dipped my feet into the Arctic Ocean.
Family first. I repeated it in my head like a mantra all morning.
My friends came to stand in front of me and comforted me all in their own ways.
Wren spoke up gently. "You are the most selfless person I know."
"Say the word though and we can disappear in ten minutes tops." Anjali said as she massaged my shoulders.
I laughed through my nerves and shook my head. "Have you seen the security around this place? A fly couldn't get in without the Petroses knowing." I saw the deep concern on my friends' faces and it was within my character to ease the worries of others. "I'm more nervous about the fact that I'm getting married. Aren is...charming and he tries to make things easier."
Ainsley sighed and gripped my hand in hers. "I can't imagine the sense of duty that you both have. Just know we're here for you always, okay? Day or night."
I stood and brought them into a group hug. "I know." When I pulled back, I sighed and directed my gaze towards the greenery outside. I needed fresh air. "Do you think you can distract my mother enough for me to explore this place a little? I feel like I've been in this room all morning."
"That's because you have been in this room all morning, Mils." Wren pointed out, running a hand down my arm.
