Harin spent the rest of the night in a haze. She couldn't seem to concentrate,
It was later that same day when Harin sat at her desk, trying to solve another batch of math exercises. Stochastics. The part she hated the most.
The doorbell ringing, signaling her takeaway was there almost sounded like heaven correspondingly.
She basically jumped out of her seat, grabbed her purse and skipped through the empty apartment over to the large wooden door, coming to a halt next to it. Her eyes stopped to look at herself in the mirror next to the door.
Messy bun, bare-faced and wearing a stretched-out basic shirt. But the worst of all: her shorts, hot pink, featuring her own face printed all over them. While they had been a joke birthday gift from her friends, she soon discovered how comfortable they were. Eventually, she started wearing them regularly when she was at home alone.
Which she was most of the time.
Her hand hesitated to grab the door handle as she saw her own reflection in the mirror.
"Delivery!"
Mehh, who's gonna see me anyways?
Harin's hand grip on the door handle tightened as she pulled it down. However, the polite smile on her face quickly dropped as she came face-to-face with her classmate.
"Oh, it's my cute savior. What are you doing here?"
Ahn Sooho looked back at her, his own surprise quickly overtaken by a cheeky smile. He didn't get another word in as Harin slammed the door shut in his face.
"Huh? Savior-nim, wanna open the door?" he drawled out, his voice muffled behind the now closed door. "Uh, i still have your food, you know?"
Harin broke out of her shocked state, horror written on her face as she gazed into the mirror once again.
Shit. Shit. Shit. You idiot, she cursed herself.
She managed to clear her throat to regain her confidence to speak before she started sprinting back to her room and shouted back, in the direction of the front door.
"Uh, one moment please."
She raced into her room, jumping out of her hot pink shorts, before ripping open her closet. She grabbed the first pants she got her hands on - gray oversized joggers—and ran back to the front door as she struggled to put them on.
Finally, she halted where she had found herself only seconds ago. Another glance at the mirror next to her made her take her hair out of the hideous bun and smooth out her baby hairs.
Harin took a last deep breath and ripped the front door back open.
"Hi," the girl sounded breathless as she took in the boy in front of him.
"Hi." Sooho only grinned as he looked at the girl, who had obviously changed in panic at his appearance. "I didn't know you live here."
"I didn't know you did deliveries." She quickly shot back.
He only shrugged, "Just one of my part-time jobs. Here you go."
He handed her the clear bag containing the jajangmyeon she had ordered. She handed him the money from her purse. Her eyebrows rose as she expressed her suprise. "Jobs? As in plural? As in more than one? While in school?"
He only pressed his lips together and gave a short, confirming sound. His shoulders were tensed by what she made out to be pride at first. Later, when she was lying in bed replaying the situation in her head, she realized that he was actually bracing himself for a negative reaction.
