For the first time in my life, I sprinted. I pushed my legs against the rocky soil, my socks getting muddied and wet in the process.
I didn't even realize how far from the city we had gotten. All that surrounded us were ginormous trees that towered over the land, causing an eerie sensation. As well as a single road, that offered me little hope that we were well connected to civilization.
We were completely isolated from everything and I doubted that a signal could even be reached from out here.
My body wasn't meant for this. It was meant for staying home and eating pizza while watching a movie. The last time I had chosen to go on a run was back in my high school days, where everyone was competing to have the skinniest waist.
Thinking about it now, probably not the healthiest.
I had no clue where I was going, large trees lined the path that I was running through. I could hear the blood rushing through my ears. Fear pumped through my chest.
In books, all the dark love was fantasy, purely fantasy. I would giggle and kick my feet when I read interactions that would never slide in modern day casualties. So, when this man who acts as if he has been taken from those type of books, appears in real life, what do I do?
Run, because he is clearly fucked up in the head.
I was beginning to lose my breath, so I glanced behind me to make sure I had lost him. When I noticed that there was nothing in this forest except for me and nature, I sat down on a nearby rock.
I felt my throat bubble and my vision blur. I leaned over and spilled out my guts, cringing at the view.
I knew that I had to keep going, I couldn't stop or he would catch me.
I picked up my limp body and began to run. I hoped to find a cottage or bus stop near by so that I could use a phone. Mr. Dickwad had smashed it with his bare hands after we left Alice's house.
I had completely forgotten about Alice, I'm a terrible friend. I missed her so much. If she were here, she would've joked about how we need to go to the gym more instead of our hangouts only consisting of Mcdonald's and Wingstop.
I couldn't see anything except for the bright moon shining down between the little space that the branches provided.
Suddenly, I heard a twig snap and before I could react, I was tackled to the ground.
The other person quickly shifted us so that they took the rough landing. I placed my hands on their chest, unable to see who it was and yanked myself up.
I heard, what I assumed to be a man, groan. I quickly gather my thoughts, realizing I had to make a break for it. I can't see this thing, he could be Jack The Ripper for all I know.
Before I could even take two steps, I tripped.
Lord, kill me now.
I took a deep breath, accepting my fate. I'm not moving. He can kill me for all I care, at least I closed all my watch rings for the day.
