She was adorable

She was adorable.

The way her nose scrunched when she had nightmares, how her fists would curl up and tighten around my shirt.

She was perfect, and she was all mine.

I had been watching her, looking over her, and she just didn't know it.

My original task had been to break into Alesso Mancini's house and take his daughter as collateral damage.

However, when I came across this little beauty, I couldn't help myself.

She didn't know who I was, yet.

And I would keep her in the dark, just for a little while. Until I knew that she wouldn't even worry her pretty little head about running away.

I had never taken interest in woman, my line of work offering no sort of time for any relationships.

Every woman I came across had one thing in mind, status and power. But, this little ray of fire, had no intentions. Well, other than getting away from me.

She was mine. She was to never leave me.

I had come across her before, contrary to her memory.

We were just children. Before I was sent to training, I attempted to run away. I had discovered a small lake nearby that offered me asylum from my father.

That day I packed up my things in a small bag and took off. When I arrived, I noticed that there was something already residing there.

Not something, someone.

A tiny girl sat with her feet against the current. Her spirals of hair swaying with the wind. She looked a bit younger than me. Her knees were brought up to her chest, her arms wrapped around her small frame.

She was a tiny thing, or maybe I was just large for my age. I approached her slowly, as if she would run away the second she noticed my presence.

I neared her, choosing to sit beside her. I left enough room between us for comfort, despite my want to be closer to the little girl.

As I lowered myself to the ground, she finally lifted her head, fear flashing when she saw me. I noticed her puffy eyes and wet lashes, indicating that she had been crying.

I just stared at her, admiring her features. She looked like a bunny; small nose, large green eyes and lips, chubby cheeks. I tilted my head to the side, taking in all of her perfection.
