All the girls look at Emma and Ciara who just look at each other for a second before fist bumping. "Fuck those assholes" they made eye contact with the other girls who had an eyebrow raised

"So it started when we parted ways..."

FLASHBACK ///

"This gym is pretty neat. I love that there's about five vending machines" Ciara said as she digs into her wallet "you're telling me. They're drinks are actually regular instead of sugar free" Emma, too, was fishing into her wallet

"I've got card- oh perfect! They take Apple Pay too" as Emma takes out her phone, they hear a few girls talking

"Haley, coach did say that if you didn't raise your grades then you wouldn't be able to practice with us. I don't get why you're upset" a girl says behind them

"C, I don't think it can read my card" Emma said "it's not reading mine either. I guess we'll just see if your sister will take us to the store to pick up some snacks" one of the girls go up to them

"Hey! I've got a five on me. I don't really need it so you can feel free to leave with at least something" the two girls turn around and smile at the blond "Thank you..." Ciara said, waiting for a name

"Rayah! These are my teammates Haley, Savannah, Jana, and Rosie. We're on the UConn softball team" Ciara smiles big and so does Emma "really? Uh- this is my friend Ciara Briggs. She's on the LSU softball team" Haley rolled her eyes which didn't go unnoticed by Emma who decided to ignore it but keep an eye out for her

"Really? That's awesome! What position do you play?" Rayah speaks out again "Center field. What do you guys play?"

"We play infield while Haley is our utility" Jana says. Haley turns to Emma "What about you? I've never seen you around here" there was a hint of attitude in her voice but Emma didn't want to cause a scene

"I'm actually a Basketball player for LSU so I'm sure it makes sense why I wouldn't be here as much" she jokes "Why are you here?" Blunt, Emma notes. "Visiting my siblings. They attend here" Emma has a tight lipped smile.

Why was this girl so invested?

"So you're the basketball team that got carried by Angel Reese at the NCAA last season?" She adds back with a smirk "I wouldn't say she "carried" our team. That'd be disrespectful to my other teammates" she said as she stepped a step closer to the girl

The girl had already decided to step up so Emma was going to match her energy

Ciara looked at the other girls with a worried look and they looked at her the same way.

"Didn't sound like a no to me." Haley shrugs her shoulders and then turns to Ciara "didn't your team lose twice to Stanford 0-3 and 0-8?" Ciara huffs

Emma knew how much Ciara blamed herself for that game. She had to spend every breathing second at the batting cages with her because she was trying to see where she went wrong. Before she even had the chance to speak up, Ciara did.
