Anu's pov
In the last few months I and abhi have developed a very good friendship. Don't know why, I sometimes feel like yeh dosti nahi kuch or hi hai, he sometimes behave like this. but I don't believe it completely. 'Lawyer hu na, bina proof ke kuch nahi maanti".
"di chalo" tanvi( nalini's daughter; same as atharv's age) came to me.
Oh did I tell you ki today is yug's birthday and we are going there. And also my bua ji(nalini) came back few day's ago . She lives with us with her two daughters, after her husband's death . And .... bhagwan ki daya se she is not a typical Indian bua/nanad . She is my favorite relative . So, we all are going there.
" di.... chaloooo mami ne pura ghar sar pe utha rakha hai niche" tanvi said and I chuckled. "haan haan chalo nahi to aaj khair nahi " I said and then we both went downstairs.
After listening to mumma's scolding we left for singhania mansion. The whole mansion was decorated with colourful balloons and fairy lights. Going inside we were greeted by the elders.
I ws talking to them when I heard someone shouting " diduuuuuuuuuuu" I truned back only to find my aaloo baby was running towards me with abhi behind him" yug slow, gir jaaoge "abhi said, yug came to me and signalled me to pick him up.
I picked him up and pecked his cheek " happy birthday aaloo baby " to which he giggled.
" hi anu " abhi greeted me. "hi abhi " I also greeted him and put yug down." so, kya haal hain " he asked me. "bss, wahi kaam " I replied. " what about you? kya chal raha hai " I asked. "ahh, wahi sab, kaam kaam aur kaam." he replied with a sigh. Then we talked for some time. And after cake cutting and some games , we came back .
Author's pov
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm golden hue across the sky, the bustling celebration of Yug's birthday gradually wound down. Anu and her family were among the last to leave, bidding their goodbyes with smiles and hugs. Amidst the cheerful chaos, Abhi and Anu had managed to steal a few moments for a soft, private conversation, a fact that did not go unnoticed by Agam.
Once the house was quiet, Agam, Abhi's elder brother, called him into his study. The room, filled with the scent of old books and leather, had an imposing yet comforting aura. Agam stood by the large mahogany desk, his arms crossed and a serious expression on his face.
"Abhi, mujhe tumse kuch zaruri baat karni hai," Agam said, his voice low and authoritative.
Abhi, sensing the gravity in his brother's tone, nodded and took a seat. "Haan bhai, kya baat hai?"
Agam walked over to the window, gazing out into the darkness for a moment before turning back to Abhi. "Aaj tum aur Anu ki baat-cheet notice ki maine. Tumhare chehre pe ek alag hi chamak thi. Batao, kya chal raha hai?"
Abhi shifted uncomfortably in his chair, trying to downplay the situation. "Kuch nahi bhai, bas aise hi doston ki tarah baat kar rahe the."
Agam's piercing gaze met Abhi's, clearly not buying his casual dismissal. "Abhi, main tumhe tabse jaanta hoon jabse tum paida hue the. Mujhe mat batao ke main galat hoon. Kya tum Anu se pyaar karte ho?"
Caught off guard by the direct question, Abhi looked down, trying to find the right words. "Bhai, it's complicated. Main khud nahi samajh paa raha hoon."
Agam walked over and placed a hand on Abhi's shoulder. "Mujhe sach batao, Abhi. Sirf ek baar."
Sighing deeply, Abhi decided to open up. "Haan bhai, shayad main Anu se pyaar karta hoon. Par main confused hoon. Pata nahi yeh sahi hai ya nahi."
