Estella did not know why her feet dragged her to Carlos's housewarming party. Perhaps, it was the longing of her heart.

That morning while on her way to the farmer's market, she stumbled upon some fresh, pink flower bouquets. She ended up buying one as a gift for Carlos. It would have looked bad if she showed up empty-handed.

Initially she thought of standing up the party however she gave into her heart's wishes. Besides, Lettie loved Carlos's company so it wouldn't hurt to have him spend time with his daughter unknowingly.

She stood there on his porch with Leticia on her right, holding her pinky finger and the bouquet she bought earlier on her left hand. Contemplating, if she should ring the bell or not. "Mamá, can we go in?" her daughter pulled her finger.

Mustering her courage, Estella rang the doorbell. Almost instantly the door had opened. The door opened to reveal Carlos, cladded in a loose, grey t-shirt and a pair of shorts, a smile plastered on his face. "Bienvenida! Welcome." he greeted in his usual baritone voice.

He quickly bent down to pick Lettie up under her arms. "Hello, Lettie how are you?" he cooed. "Good." she chuckled. "And you, Gia?" He asked as they walked towards the living room. "I'm good too." she spoke handing him the bouquet momentarily as he placed Lettie on a big white couch.

Carlos's house was much bigger than hers. She walked to the dining room connected to the living, to see everything kempt and in place; the placemats, glasses, utensils and an empty vase. An empty vase where she thought the flowers she bought would look good.

Although she wanted to ask him to put the flowers in the vase, she kept mum—she thought that would be too prying into his personal space.

The living room was empty. Just Leticia and her father sitting on the couch laughing as they played. The old Stella hoped for things to be like that but the now Stella knew, Carlos Sainz didn't like kids. It was all just a facade.
