"Honey! Come in here now."

"Gu-."

"She's gonna say her first word!" Both Steve and Peggy watched Ellie, waiting for her mouth to open again.

"Gun!" Their eyes widened, and Steve chuckled.

"It's not funny!"

"Steve, it's not funny." Steve's smile disappeared.

"How though?"

"Well, we do say it all the time." Peggy raised her eyebrows, and tilted her head to the side for a second.

"Dad, no!" The 1/2 cup was overflowing with sugar.

"What? Did I do something wrong?" He looked at me, completely clueless.

"Yeah. Too much sugar." My mother walked into the kitchen, watching us.

"Are you guys making cookies again?" I nodded and grabbed a fistful of sugar from the bowl, and put it back in the container.

"But Dad just can't get it!"

"I'm trying, Ellebear."

"All that matters is that you two are spending time together." Mom kissed Dad on the cheek.

"I'm going to work."

"Stay safe, honey."

"You know I will." Mom shut the door as she left.

"Tell me about the future." I put my chin in my hand, and looked over at him.

"You know I can't Elle." Dad put the cookies in the oven.

"If I could, I would."

Steve's POV

I watched Ellie walk down the street towards our house, and saw that a black van was a few yards away. As she got closer to the house, dread began to creep into my heart.

"What is it Steve?" Peggy had walked up behind me and was messaging my shoulders.

"I just have a bad feeling."

"About what?"

"About that black van." Peggy looked in the direction of the van.

"Steve, look." Peggy pointed to the left of the van. Three armed men were walking in the direction of my daughter. I abruptly turned around and dashed down the stairs. Peggy followed me, grabbing the gun off the kitchen counter.

I walked out the door, and told Peggy to hide behind our car in the driveway. I began to slowly walk towards Ellie, who was oblivious to what was about to happen. Ellie was about 300 yards away from where I currently was. The men were only 100. There was no way I could get to her in time without the men noticing me.

Ellie's POV

I saw my dad walking towards me on my way home from my friend's house, coming from a study session. I had left since she was tired. I was only a few hundred yards away from the house, and Dad had come out to greet me, which is something he never rarely ever does. Something was wrong. I quickened my pace, but not by too much in case someone was watching me.

I heard something in the brush a few feet from me, but I didn't look in the direction of the sound. I looked up, which was a mistake. I could clearly see the look on my father's face, and it sent chills down my spine.

I decided to do something stupid. I turned around, and started walking away from my dad. I now saw the black van. I crossed the street, on the same side as the van. I was literally putting my life in my dad's hands. I stopped, and pulled my backpack off my back. I threw it in a nearby bush.

I now saw the three men in black clothing. I slowly turned around in a circle, and Dad was 100 yards from me. I was then slammed into the ground. The impact knocked the wind out of me. I fought the man who tackled me for a few minutes until he was pulled off of me.

"Run, Ellie!" I ran until I couldn't breathe, and I passed out on the concrete.

Steve's POV

I saw Ellie drop onto the pavement as I threw another punch. She had barely ran for a minute.

All three men hit me at the same time, paralyzing me, frozen on the ground. They all started advancing towards Ellie. Shots rang out, and the men ran for the trees. Once the shots stopped, the men reemerged from the trees, and grabbed Ellie off the pavement. They started walking towards the black van, carrying my unconscious daughter.

I was still paralyzed, but I could move my head. I was closer to the van than they were, and I had a good look at it. I saw the HYDRA symbol on the license plate and on one of the rings of the tires. What could HYDRA want with my daughter? The answer was simple. Answers about the future, and to turn her into a weapon to use against me.

They put her in the back of the van, and one of them walked towards me as the others got in the car. He kicked the back of my head, and I blacked out hearing Peggy screaming and the car driving away.
