9. The path toward death
"Let's go out too."
"......Huh? Cough, Cough."
Han Ji-gang, who was quietly listening to the conversation between Taeshin and Ryu So- min, suddenly spoke to Nabin and made him choke on his food.
Han Ji-gang patted Nabin's back with a hand that did not hurt as he coughed so violently that his white face turned red.
"Why are you eating so quickly? It's not like anyone is taking it."
Even as he lightly scolded Nabin, Han Ji-gang's hand as he brought him a cup filled with lukewarm water, was gentle. Nabin felt uncomfortable, as if he was sitting on a thorn cushion due to Han Ji-gang's increasingly caring behaviour.
It was also because Taeshin and Ryu So-min's gaze suddenly stopped and they were staring at themselves and Han Ji-gang.
"You guys are going out too?"
"huh."
"You are taking the guide?"
"huh."
"why?"
Han Ji-gang, only looked at Nabin while answering, but as the questions endlessly continued and his voice turned sharp, he eventually shifted his gaze from Nabin to Taeshin.
The gaze passing between eyes with contrasting colors was sharp, like sparks flying. The air in the kitchen began to heat up with the energy of the two people.
Nabin and Ryu So-min trembled at the same time as an intangible energy tingled their skin. Han Ji-gang and Taeshin, who sensed the two's condition, quietly killed the momentum they had immediately gained, but the antipathy in their gazes at each other only deepened.
"What are you going to do about it? It doesn't matter whether I take him out or do something else."
"......what?"
Taeshin's eyes widened. Although the two of them had countless fights while living together, it was never a conflict about someone else.
Even when it came to Ryu So-min, there were only mild differences of opinion - no real fights. But now... Han Ji-gang was furious at Taeshin because of the guide who entered the mansion like an uninvited guest not too long ago.
"And don't touch Nabin Kim for a week. If you need guidance, go to the centre and use the machine. You should be reflecting on what you did yesterday."
Nabin, who was glad to have a day off today, looked up at Han Ji-gang with trembling eyes. He couldn't see his face properly because he was being held in his arms, but there wasn't a single trace of warmth left on the face staring at Taeshin, so just looking at it made his eyes ache.
It seemed like they were fighting because of him, and he couldn't stop them. Nabin just looked away. He scratched the nailbed next to his thumb until it bled, hoping that this moment would pass safely.
"Is the guide suddenly your personal belonging? He is for public use. "It's the same with the toilet that we turn around whenever we need to take a shit. "
Following Taeshin's words, Nabin had to stop even touching his hands. He was well aware that his own worth was little but being compared to a public urinal deeply slit his heart.
After meeting Min-su Kim, the number of people in Nabin's world who treated Nabin like a human being could be counted on one hand. Most of them looked at Nabin with disdain and did not hesitate to say hurtful things.
Just because he heard it often... didn't mean he didn't get hurt by the painful words directed at him. It would be nice if his heart became stronger every time he heard painful words, but even now, Taeshin's words were like a dagger and stuck in his heart.
