Pyrrha sat quietly, dutifully ignoring the steady beeping of machines all around her as she waited patiently for the nurse to return. There were a lot of wounded after the battle, between both Beacon and Vale. So many in fact that the hospitals were currently overwhelmed, the council had even asked Atlas to bring back some of its ships to offer medical relief. James had done so without hesitation, getting them there within just a few days. People hadn't settled on a name for the battle yet, the memory still too fresh and the aftermath not yet taken care of.
She was currently sitting in the Beacon medical wing, for once staffed beyond the usual Tsune, as Ozpin had opened the school's doors to act as an emergency center for the less dangerous cases. There were still serious injuries, and some people that would need long recovery, but anyone requiring surgery had been whisked off into the city or to one of Atlas' ships already. Doctors and nurses in all manner of uniforms and garb ran back and forth, most in typical white coats, but some wore the uniforms of Atlas, while others had the symbol of Mistral on them.
A small radio had been set up towards the door, for those forced to wait. On it, a news broadcast had been giving updates since Pyrrha arrived.
"-Fang elements have gone into hiding, the Council is instructing the populace to remain calm and trust in our allies. In a statement earlier today, the Council had this to say." Pyrrha wasn't from Vale, but it was easy to recognize Lisa Lavender's voice. She had been on the air seemingly nonstop since the Council had authorized broadcasts.
"The people of Vale stand strong against this ruthless and violent attack!" The voice changed to that of an older man, one Pyrrha couldn't recall the name of. He spoke confidently. "Our allies, be they Mistralian or Atlesian, have come to our aid in this, our darkest hour. We will not buckle to these threats of violence, nor will we succumb to their demands! The future of Vale, nay, the future of Remnant, is a bright one!"
The voice cut back to Lisa's for a moment. "Headmaster Ozpin of Beacon had this to add."
"The Council is right to say that our future is bright. Never before have so many Kingdoms come together in defense of one another, not for an attack such as this. We have been given a great gift in the friends we have made, and these trials we face now will only strengthen those bonds." Ozpin's voice was even, calm, lacking the same fire that the Council's message had sent, but Pyrrha found herself more focused on his than the others. "Our foes sought to divide us, to turn Atlesian, Valian and Mistralian, Human and Faunus, against one another, to make us do their work for them, to weaken and destroy us, and they nearly succeeded. Were it not for the swift action of a brave few, we may very well have fallen to this attack." There was a small lull in the recording, as Ozpin let those words settle. Hate would be in abundance after the attack, his words would, hopefully, settle some of that. "Do not let this discourage you, rather, see it for what it is. Proof that an individual can make all the difference in the world. For we all owe these select few our lives, the least we can do is be worthy of their sacrifices."
"Strong words at a time when they are needed." Lisa added as the recording finished. "Beacon, along with the Council, have called fo-"
"Amber?" A woman in a lab coat approached, holding a clipboard.
"Yes." Pyrrha responded.
"All signs show that you will make a fine recovery." The doctor read off the paper quickly. "Aura recovery is strong while any injuries have been relatively minor. All things considered, you made it through relatively unharmed."
Pyrrha had to fight the urge to chuckle. She'd made it through fine this time. That didn't matter however. She smiled softly.
"Thank you, doctor. Am I free to go?"
