The wet asphalt bubbles underneath the tires of Bella's red truck as you watch Charlie pull out of the cafe driveway, pausing before entering the roadway in the direction of the Swan house.

Your feet feel frozen in your boots, stuck in blissful shock as you watch the red truck disappear in the distance. Not even the soft pitter-patter of the gentle raindrops beginning to dance on top of your hair can convince you to move as long as the rust-red truck is still in sight.

That is, of course, until the raindrops begin to pick up with a quite menacing pace. You turn on your heels and hasten to your car, unlocking the door as quickly as you can before jumping inside. The heater cannot possibly power up quickly enough- it blows cool air that only becomes lukewarm as you rub your hands together.

Not that you need the heat- your body is still on fire.

As the car begins to warm up, your eyes shift to the rear view mirror, and you angle it down slightly to catch a glimpse of yourself. Everything seems normal enough- your hair doesn't seem too out-of-place, and everything seems in order. But your eyes lock on your lips in your reflection.

Something about them feels different. You slowly raise your hand to graze a finger along your bottom lip, feeling your breath pass them as you exhale slowly.

Charlie is such a gruff man- he's so simple and of so few words, but when he kissed you today, it felt like he was sharing everything with you. It truly felt like the day he had first kissed you in front of the cafe, and it was another moment when you felt you could actually see him- feel him- in that moment.

His lips felt like oxygen today; like a breath of fresh air after living in smog and toxins. It was enough to survive, but the way it felt was like nothing you've ever experienced before.

You swallow against your saliva, moving your hand to your neck and touching your own skin, wondering if it felt soft when Charlie pressed his lips against it.

Your body jolts in shock as you hear someone knocking on your window. You whip your head to the left, relieved when you see Cora standing outside your window underneath an umbrella, leaning down to get to the level of your window.

The window creaks a bit as you roll it down, trying to stall in not knowing what Cora's going to say. She keeps her posture leaned down, examining your face as the raindrops tap on her umbrella.

"I see you're back...." She says, her voice low. "You okay?"

Your lips part as you finally snap back into it, blinking repeatedly as you stare back at Cora wide-eyed. "Uh-huh."

Cora's expression shifts, and a smirk creeps up on her lips. "You wanna take the rest of the day off? Riley and I have got everything taken care of in there, you know."

You press your lips together again, thinking before responding with a simple "Uh-huh".

Cora raises a brow. "Alright. Well... good. I take it you had a good time?"

"... uh-huh."

She shakes her head, contrasted by her trying to stifle a giggle. "Good. I'm glad. I'll see you tomorrow, then?"

You clear your throat as she steps back from the car. "Yeah- yes. I'll see you... tomorrow."

The sight of your home has never been so welcome. As much as you don't want to rinse the feeling of Charlie from your skin, the idea of a hot shower sounds like an indulgence compared to the thunder you hear outside- the sound of its' booming no doubt masked by the thick mist that creeps in between the trees as it begins growing dark outside.
