I OPENED THE front door to be greeted by Katherine in the kitchen.
"Hey, your early. Did Elijah or Brooklyn drive you home?" She asked me as I sat down on the chair at the counter.
"No I walked." I replied putting my head down on the counter.
"In this weather, are you sick?" She put her hand on my forehead checking my temperature.
"You have a fever. Here drinking this." She poured tea in a mug and gave it to me. I nodded and smiled thanking her.
"Isaac told me everything that happened last night." She said putting her hand on the table.
Of course he did.
"Why would he do that?" I asked her putting the mug down.
"Don't get mad or yell at him when they get home, he's just looking out for you." She replied as her words warmed up the room.
"He's not supposed to care."
"But he does. Give him a chance too know you." She put a hand on my shoulder squeezing it.
The door opened at the boy's walked in. "We're home!" Cole yelled.
"In here!" Katherine replied and the boys walked into the kitchen "Why are you here so early?" Lee asked grabbing some whipped cream from the fridge putting in his mouth.
"That is disgusting, Lee!" Katherine scolded grabbing the whipped cream from his hand's.
Lee sat beside me looking for an answer. "Oh um, I walked here." I replied to him.
"Damn, it's freezing out there." He said frowning.
I nodded taking another sip of the tea.
"Why don't you guy's give her some space for awhile?" Katherine asked the boys and they soon walked out with their "okay's" and "Sure's" filling the room.
Isaac stopped at the doorway with a worried look and soon walked off to their room.
"You'll probably be better tomorrow morning." Katherine said a continued doing what she was doing when I got here.
I nodded at her words. "I hope."
A lot is gonna change this year.
