"Impossible" Uncle's voice thundered in the room. I expected this reaction when I made up my mind to tell him my decision on this matter and honestly, I felt a lot of pity for him. It was too much. Nothing was going his way and he must be frustrated by all of it. First, it was Michael, and now me.

"You cannot do this. I cannot let it happen" he raged, his eyes dark and brimming with a lot of emotions. It would be easy to think that I told him I was going to hand the pack over to our enemies.

"I have made up my mind already. This needs to be done. The war needs to end"

"And marriage is the only way out?" He glared at me and I sighed, rubbing my fingers against my temple, feeling fed up with the entire situation.

"Tell me what way there is. All the negotiation plans didn't work out. They do not want the trade borders. This is the only thing we haven't tried"

"And we shouldn't be trying at all. Albert is almost the same age as your father. How can you think of marrying him"

I didn't even think about his age. He wouldn't be the ideal man for me but it didn't matter. Nothing mattered at this point. Their attacks continued every day, growing deeper into our territory and destroying years of hard work. Our army wasn't holding up.

We had no support from the neighboring packs. At this rate, our people will die off and there will be no pack to lead over. If this was the only way then I was willing to take it. As long as it brought peace back to our pack, then I was willing to do anything and everything.

"I know you hate the idea but this is for the best. We have to take this decision"

"Then once you get married and the war ends, what happens to our people? Who becomes the alpha"

"Gaius....."

"Is unfit. His mother is not Luna. He is not worthy"

"But he is still the son of the alpha. There is no else suited for this position except for him. Times are changing and the rigidity of our ways need to change. He is young and perfect to be molded into the alpha that you dream of. Let's be honest, I could never be a good alpha"

"You're going to make the best alpha. You are homely and compassionate. Wise and kind. There would be no other alpha to be like you"

"You're wrong. He will be a great alpha. Teach him to be great. Along with your second son......they will lead together"

"I fear his mother's influence over him" he raked his hand through his hair.

"Then keep them apart. The making of the next great alpha of our pack depends on you now"

"I don't like this Lileas. It feels so wrong. Albert is not a good man"

"He would be good to his wife. After all, I would have ended up with a man chosen by you and Father"

"We would have chosen someone worthy of you. Not Albert" he said again, still full of distaste and annoyance.

"It is what it is now. Please make the arrangements so we can get this over with"

"Of course Lileas," he said with a defeated sigh. I will do as you've said. I hope you are doing the right thing"

"It is"

"And Ines has nothing to do with your decision?"

She kept saying it every other day. She mentioned it whenever she saw me and cried continuously. I wouldn't be pressured by her but it made me think about the only other solution that could work.

"She has nothing to do with it"

"Okay then. I'll reach out with a final offer and then I'll get back to you"
