Chapter-17

A Good Talk

The door swing opens, giving me an idea of his presence. I pretend not to mind, unpacking his stuff. As he peers closer, I scoff at the baby behaviour after lying to me. "H-Hey, not that suitcase.", he stumbles to me, only to halt. I shove up my palm, glaring at him. "Sit in the bed." He walks to the bed, plopping onto it. "Now please stop picking out the stuff." "I smiled, but it doesn't mean I am not angry with you.", I spit. He looks down, "I'm sorry. You know-" "Look at the collection. Pretty huge, isn't it? Where did you get the suitcase from?", I picked up the gun, admiring its beauty. I have no interest in these guns. Especially, when it's probably stinking with someone's dirty blood.

"From the team." "Team?", I asked. "Y- Yeah." "You got them from overseas?" "No.", he muttered. "You carried them before boarding. Did you not get caught?", I looked at him with my eyes wide open. What in the world does he do? "What do you take me for? I have great connections.", he nagged. "And what do you take me for? Do I look like a maid to you? How could you not tell me that before leaving? It's not like I would have not let you go. Do you know how big of a shock I was in?", I threw away the gun.

"I know..... I just thought it will make you feel lonely." "Lonely? Was it too much to handle?" "I understand but.... I just thought it will be heartbreaking for you.", he bit on his lower lip. I was just on the verge of cursing him to death. "Be serious. Why would I be heartbroken? It's not like I like you or something.", those words were just unexpected to my ownself. I shifted my gaze to him, who was looking into my eyes-definitely hurt by my words.

Oh my freaking mouth. I wish I didn't say that. "Right, you don't even like me....." He smiles through the pain and I stare at him in pity. "My bad. I had high expectations. You can do your work, I will do my things.", he gently pushes me off. I rise up from the ground, staring at him-keeping his stuff back in the suitcase. "I won't bring these guns again. I am really sorry." He picks up the gun I threw away a while ago. "I-It's okay.", I mutter almost to myself.

"But, don't do that again.", I told him. "Why do you care? You don't even like me. What about our divorce, did you find out the reason?", I never heard that word coming from his mouth so desperately. Above that, the cracking voice of his echoed through my ears just like a repetition.

"Yes...", I sighed. He snapped his gaze to me, shaking his head with a painful smile. "No, you didn't." He continues packing up. "I did.", I defended. "What is it then?", he looks into my eyes, raising up his perfect eyebrows. I cannot tell him. It will just make it worse. I decided to stand quiet. He waited for a reply for two good minutes, and then he chuckled.

"See, you didn't. I knew it. You wouldn't have said that if you did.", he confused me with those words. "What? What do you mean? What I wouldn't have said?", I crouched down, trying to gain his attention. He shifts his gaze to me, and that's when I realised I have had shifted too close to him. But only if I minded the distance for now. I continued to bombarder him with the same question.

But he seemed to be lost somewhere. Staring particularly in my eyes, with his own brown ones. I can see the sparkling pain and disappointment from his brown orbs. Unknowingly, my stomach started growling for no reason. It's the regret, I suppose. I waved my hand in front of his eyes, trying to pull him back to the ground. He shakes his head, "Nevermind." "Tell me.", I pull my face closer to his. He pushes me off, "Go. Do you work.

Just as picks up the other suitcase, he shifted his gaze to me. "Why are you standing here?" "O-Oh, yeah. I am going.", I quickly rushed out of the room. Leaning by the wall adjacent to the room. I could feel my heart thumping for no reasons. It is strange of me. I peeked into the room, finding him looking at something as if he was devoted to it.

'He picks out the spruce green wooden box, caressing the name of the brand with his fingers. "Only if I have the courage to give it to you now-when you clearly said you don't like me.", he mutters under his breath. He keeps the long wooden box in his personal shelf.'

Words countdown: 800+ words

I know the chapter is literally shorter than our height but yk i just wanted to tell something from this one part so that's why. I don't really like adding two scenes in one chap so i left it till here. I promise the next chapter will be longer and enough💜💜
