Note (from ao3): Lots of Ray in this chapter! Hope you don't mind :)

Oh and if Norman and Jasmine ever become a duo, they would be way too powerful

Enjoy!!

Grace Field, Plant 1, August 22nd, 2061, 7:00am

My eyes widened as soon as they landed on her. Are they playing tricks to me again? Or is she really there?

« E- Emma? »

She frowns and takes a better look at me. I see her eyes widen a little before making her way towards me. I make my way towards her as well. We stop in front of each other.

She looks exhausted. I can't see that fire that once lit up her eyes anymore. She's lost her spark... What... did they do to her?

She cups my face with both her hands. I can feel her thumb tracing my scar, the one under my left eye. After a moment, she looks at me in the eyes and wraps her arms around my neck. I wrap mine around her as well.

It feels great to have her in my arms again. I've missed her so much.

« I've missed you... so much... »

I feel her tighten her hug.

« I've missed you too... »

We stay like that. It feels really good to be able to hug her again after so long. I was about to say something when I was interrupted by a young boy's voice.

« Mom! Where are you? Breakfast is ready and sister Gilda is getting worried! »

« Gilda? »

I hear Emma let out a chuckle but... it feels empty.

« Yes. Gilda is the sister Minerva sent to keep an eye on me. »

We backed away from the hug and she turned to look down.

« We're coming, James! »

« We? »

I approach the edge to take a look at the boy.

« Yo. »

I see his eyes widen in shock for a moment. Emma then turned to me.

« Wait, you're hurt. How- What happened? »

« Oh. Right. »

I kind of forgot about that, not gonna lie.

« I got shot by a mad man that wanted my death, but don't worry, a wild demon ate him. »

Emma looked at me with a serious expression.

« I'll explain later. Right now, if that's okay with you, I'm starving. And in pain. So let's go eat breakfast. »

« Yeah, you're right. We have a lot to talk about. »

« You said it. »

We went down the wall without me hurting myself even more. Surprisingly. Emma helped me walk to the house.

« That feels weird. »

« What feels weird? »

I let out a scoff.

« Being here after so long. I'm kind of nervous to go back to the house, even if technically that's not the house, but you know. »

« I can only imagine. Let's take care of your injuries first, you're still bleeding out and I'm afraid you might have some infections too. »
