Note (from ao3): Sooo... Remember I was saying that next chapter will be so long that I had to cut it in two?
Well, here's the first part.
Enjoy!

Some of the oldest kids and I are inside the house while the younger ones are playing outside. We had gone to find the babies that had woken up from their nap. I have James in my arms and he has his head layed down on my shoulder, near my neck. I'll never get tired of feeling his warmth.
Once we are outside, we all go sit under the tree. Axel is blabbering gibberish and Deidre seems pretty attentive to whatever he was saying.
Axel had started to walk recently! He surprised all of us a month ago by walking towards one of his siblings. Deidre had also learned how to walk, but it was a week ago. Only James hadn't started yet. I think he likes being in my arms better. Not that I'm complaining of course.
James is sitting on my lap, trying to understand what Axel is talking about when he suddenly turns around to look at me. He has a big smile that reminds me so much of Norman. He gives me some pat on my arm.
« Mama! »
My eyes widen. I barely hear the older children let out gasps of surprise. All of my attention is on James right now.
« What... What did you say? »
James tilts his head, his smile still on his face. He gives me another pat on my arm.
« Mama! »
My throat is becoming more tight and I can feel tears forming into my eyes. I wrap my arms around James and I make sure to keep him close to me. James wraps his tiny arms around me. I think... I think I'm crying.
« Mama! »
I raise my head and James turns around to look at Deidre who's happily walking toward us. She throws herself at me and James and I both let out a giggle. Well, James was more a laugh than a giggle.
« Hi, Deidre. »
Axel is laughing and is making his way towards me as well and, just like Deidre, he throws himself at me. I catch him and keep them three against me.
« Mama? Why are you crying? »
I raise my gaze to look at my oldest children. Ava-Rose, Abigail, Mason, Zainab, Colin and Tanisha.
« I'm just happy. I don't recall the last time I was genuinely happy... »
I can see the concerns on their face. I feel tiny hands on my cheeks. I look down to see James, Deidre and Axel trying to wipe my tears away. I chuckle as I take their hands in mine.
« I'm happy to be your Mother. I couldn't ask for a better gift than to be your Mother. »
I look at the three babies in my arms and my gaze stops on Deidre for a moment. Even if she has blond hair and lighter skin, I could recognise those green eyes anywhere. They're Jasmine's. Jasmine never told me directly that Deidre is her daughter. I discovered it by myself. With the help of Minerva too. I had asked him in one of my letters and he confirmed my doubts. He still refuses to tell me what's written on James' files though. He still uses the excuse that it should be impossible and that he needs to do more research. It's been a year, almost two now since I first asked him. I'm surprised he still hasn't found anything yet.
* Sigh*
I then look at James. He's looking at me with his big blue and green eyes. That blue is so familiar. And his white hair. The orange strand on the right side of his face is from me, that I'm sure of it. But those white hair...
