All I see is Sainz

Chapter 43

Carlos was gone again, he was in Vegas. Only Vegas and two more races until the season was over. Again, we spent every free minute he had on the phone and FaceTime. I'd be at the hospital often and would show him the babies. They were just perfect. Getting bigger by the day. They were still pretty small since they were premature but the doctor says they're healthy and doing well now. They'd come home in about a week and a half.

With Cassidy jobless now, she, Eli and I would spend as much time as could enjoying the city of Madrid. It really was a beautiful city. Though we've only been here a year, nearly two now, it really has been great. We were ready for the move. All we had were a small luggage of clothes and items, everything was already in Monaco. We were in the hospital right now visiting the twins. Eli loved to sit and hold his brother and sister. Cassidy was obsessed with them as well. People were really observant, social media fan pages pointed out how they'd spotted us around the city and noticed I'm no longer huge. "Carlos's fiancée no longer pregnant... have the Sainz twins arrived??" Was the main headline trending. It was media day today, Carlos would be one of the few drivers in the press conference. We were watching on Eli's iPad, each of us taking turns holding the twins. "A question for Carlos Sainz from skysports" a reporter spoke up. Carlos nodded ready for the question. "I'm sorry Carlos, but everyone is dying to know... have your twins arrived to this world? Will we be seeing the Sainz twins soon?" The reporter asked nervously, knowing just how personal that question was. But I couldn't blame her, seemed like thousands of people wanted to know too.

"Ahh, a personal question. We all know how I feel about those. But just this once because I want to put it out there. Yes, my twins were born a couple weeks ago. I won't get into too much detail but I am the happiest man in the world. Three beautiful children. I am so proud of my beautiful fiancée, bringing our beautiful Naomi and Luciano Sainz. Nana and Luca" he spoke proudly and confidently it made my heart flutter. You heard the room of reporters all "awe". "Thank you Carlos" the report spoke. It took the next reporter some time to process Carlos's little announcement to ask his question. The other drivers, Pierre, Lando, Checo, and Daniel were quick to jump on Carlos. Lando had his mic too close and everyone chuckled at his response. "Hey, why wasn't I told! I'm a couple weeks late on starting my role as favorite uncle!" Lando hissed playfully. They guys got it together and the conference went on. Carlos called me right after. "I'm sure the girls attacked you too by now" he started. "Oh yeah thanks a lot" I joked. "They quickly blew up my phone and calling me all at the same time. I had to call one by one until we just made a FaceTime group chat. They yelled at me for not saying anything, and then started planning a late baby shower party for me and Kelly. We all agreed to have it once we move and settle in, in Monaco" I told him. He chuckles and we talked about how he feels with the car for the race.

Eventually we hung up and I started on dinner. Cassidy, Eli and I ate together in the dining room. We talked about how excited we were for Monaco. We were having our ice cream dessert when my phone rang.

Incoming call: Dr.Costa

"It's the twins's doctor" I said gasping. Cassidy immediately dropped her soon and rushed to my side. I answered quickly. "Dr?" I asked worriedly. I started mumbling prayers in my head hoping it wasn't any bad news.

"I'm sorry to call so late Ms.Ramos, but I have good news and assumed you'd appreciate it if I told you now." He says in a chirpy tone.

"Yes?" I ask nervously. I shut my eyes tightly as if the doctor was in front of me.

"The team and I herding your twins have been going over the latest lab results. They seem to be responding well. I had some nurses try feeding them a special milk formula to see how they take it...and they responded better than we expected. So without further anticipation, your twins are ready to go home with you. As soon as tomorrow morning!" He says and my heart skipped a beat.

My eyes get all teary and I feel a flutter in my stomach. "My... my babies can come home?" I say softly as my voice shakes.
