When the vampire comes to town it all falls silent. Mothers and fathers lock their doors and beg their Gods for mercy. Children bury themselves beneath their covers and squeeze their eyes shut; hoping sleep finds them before death does.
The vampire grants no mercy. It sinks its teeth deep inside the nearest living thing. It rejoices in the fear and relishes in the drawn out agony. If one is lucky, he will be dead within a few minutes of being ensnared. The first wave of victims are quickly drained up. But once the vampire has satiated its hunger, that's when the real horror begins.
The vampire doesn't care if one screams. What's the buzzing of a fly to the giant? Fighting back only encourages its lust for the hunt. Its skin is like sculpted marble for desperate fingers to easily slide down. Its breath is warm, sticky from the blood of children and fathers, trailing down its victims neck, as hands tear back clothes searching for that perfect patch of unmarred skin.
When the vampire has had its fill, it falls to its knees. The corpses of the innocent and the guilty alike surround it. Head lifted to the sky, eyes closed, an onlooker could assume the creature was praying for forgiveness. But the beast doesn't care, does it?
When the vampire comes to town, death follows.
