"There isn't a soul on earth that can love me like you do."
"Then why are you leaving Felix?"
Hyunjin's nineteenth birthday party was nothing less than a huge gala. He stood there, looking around, feeling like he didn't exist. It was his birthday, but his father was the spotlight. Hyunjin sighed and walked to the balcony. Hyunjin guessed his father was celebrating more that Hyunjin was born because of him then the fact that Hyunjin was born.
Hyunjin breathed in the cold air and shivered. He looked around to see if there was anyone else in the balcony, only to spot a boy in a white attire, sitting on top of the roof. Hyunjin frowned. He was sitting on the tiles, holding on to the chimney a little and looking at the sky.
Hyunjin looked up. The sky was dark but it was littered with diamond-like stars. The moon was out, and its light lit up the city. Hyunjin spotted a flock of white swan-like birds, flying high above in the air, flying away. Hyunjin wondered if they were migrating.
Hyunjin looked back at the boy, who was looking at the same distant flock of birds. Hyunjin climbed up the window on top of the roof and sat beside him. The boy startled but Hyunjin continued to look at the, now invisible birds.
The boy stared at Hyunjin. Hyunjin asked, "Do you star gaze often?" The boy replied, "Where I'm from, there are no stars to gaze." Hyunjin looked at him and asked, "Who are you?" The boy looked back at the sky, not wanting to make eye-contact, "I'm Felix."
Hyunjin said, "I didn't see you on the invite list."
"I'm easy to forget."
Hyunjin looked at him, "I don't think so."
He sighed and said, "Why are you ruining my evening?"
Hyunjin smiled, "Should I let you rest in peace?"
"Try to annoy me and you'd be resting in pieces." Felix said lazily.
Hyunjin chuckled, "Feisty."
Felix scoffed, ruffling his blond hair and said, "Happy Birthday by the way. I almost forgot who's birthday party this is."
Hyunjin sighed, "Nothing new. I bet most people here don't even know me."
Felix smiled and looked back towards Hyunjin, "Can I get to know you?"
Hyunjin smiled back.
Present
Felix left. Hyunjin couldn't understand why. It was one thing to break up with your boyfriend out of the blue after four years of dating, and another to not even tell the reason why.
Hyunjin sat in his room, on the floor, staring at the empty bed. The bed where Felix should have been sleeping right now. It was way past midnight but Hyunjin didn't feel sleepy at all. Maybe he'd develop insomnia. That would be horrible. Hyunjin likes sleeping.
Temporary death.
Hyunjin stood up and walked outside to the living room, turning on an old movie on the TV, pretending Felix is asleep inside.
Halfway through the movie, Hyunjin grew restless. Yes, he could pretend Felix was sleeping inside while he watched TV because he couldn't sleep... But Felix would always come to get Hyunjin as soon as he'd realise that Hyunjin was outside.
Hyunjin grabbed his phone, sleep-drunk, and started messaging Felix... Hoping to get some answers.
Jinnnnnnie

Are you ever gonna unblock me?
Or am I just spamming a dead account?

Pls come back...
Or just tell me why?
Are you ok????
Did I hurt you....???
Bokkie?
Hey
:(
"I feel pathetic." Hyunjin muttered after sending all those texts and threw his phone away.
He immediately regretted yeeting his phone across the room as soon as he heard a notification. Hyunjin grabbed his phone and saw that all his messages were seen.
Hyunjin was afraid he'd be left on seen but he sighed in relief when he saw the three dots jumping up and down, meaning Felix was typing.
Shine-bok
Shush
Hyunjin blinked in confusion.
He waited for a while, wondering if Felix was just busy.
Felix never sent another text.
Hyunjin tried not to cry and instead went to stalk Felix's social media... Well, not stalk, just quietly look at all his posts.
Hyunjin bit his hand when he saw Felix deleted all posts related to Hyunjin on Instagram.
He went on the most recent post with Felix and Changbin and looked through the comment section. One or two comments were asking about 'what happened to your bfs pics?'.
Hyunjin looked at the caption of the pic, to get some kind of clue how Felix was feeling.
The captain was, "Time to let go"
Hyunjin kept his phone away, his chest feeling tight, his head hurting, and his eyes watering with unshed tears.
He mumbled to himself, "That's the thing Bokkie... I can't let go of my lifeline."
