"You see that pole?" Sean says coming over to me and pointing in the direction of it. "You see it, you see it right there?"

"Yeah," I reply.

"I bet you, I can beat you there," he challenges me as he starts hopping. So this is the effect that Monster has on him. Nate just stares at me with a look that says I told you so.

"Okay fine," I say standing up as we both stand at the end of the porch. "One, two, three."

Sean starts running as fast as he can, and I turn around and sit back down.

"It is not going to wear off until tomorrow," Nate tells me as we watch Sean run to the pole. "He acts like he has a hangover the next day."

"Could you imagine if he had alcohol?" I ask him laughing.

"I would be nowhere near him," he replies. "I can't even handle him now."

I let out a laugh as Nate lets out a groan. "Oh, he's coming back."

"I beat your butt!" Sean yells, sitting down next to me with a thump. A few people turn towards us, giving us strange looks. "You did not even have the chance to leave the Snack Shack. That's how fast I was."

"Great job buddy," I said, giving him a pat on the back, trying not to laugh at his hyper attitude.
He reaches out to my Monster and takes a sip from it.

"Hey!" I yell, reaching out and taking the can from his hands. "You have already had enough for one day."

Sean looks between Nate and I, and then rolls his eyes. "You guys are boring, I'm going to the basketball court."

With that he walks (a type a walk that you see moms doing in the neighborhood) away from us and towards the basketball court where he can annoy some other people.

Nate lets out a sigh of relief across from me. "Don't get me wrong, Sean is a great guy and all. But I feel sorry for the poor girl that has to marry him."

I laugh at his comment and get up from my seat to throw away my trash. "He seems nice, except when he gets Monster into his system."

"Then I guess you have not really met him yet," Nate tells me, letting out a laugh at his own joke.

Nate started walking in front of me, and I just followed behind him even though I did not know where we were going. I admired him from behind and noticed that he had a thin, long scar running down the back of his arm. I wonder what caused such a big scar?

"Emily!" I heard someone yell behind me, causing Nate and I to stop walking and turn around. Kylie was jogging up to us with a big smile on her face.

Once she caught up with us, she looked over my shoulder and threw Nate a smile. "Hey...Nate."

Turning around, I saw that he gave her a small smile and then looked down at the ground. Looking back at Kylie, she focused her attention on me, even though her eyebrows were furrowed.

Yikes, I could cut the tension with a knife.

"Where are you guys going?" she asked, rolling on the balls of her feet.

"I have no clue," I answer shrugging my shoulders. "I was just following Nate."

"Well I was about to do the three-man swing, and I need one more person," she informs me. "You want to come do it?"

"Yeah sure," I answered, and then turned to face Nate. "I will catch up with you later."

He gave me a wave in return and then went on his own way. Kylie grabbed my hand and dragged me along until we got to this huge metal contraption. I only got to get a quick glance at it until I was being strapped onto it.

"Took you long enough," Sean scoffs next to me. I look over quickly and see that he has a huge evil grin on his face.

"You made me get on this machine?" I ask Kylie.

"Yeah."

"With Sean?"

"Yeah."

"Who has a Monster in his system?"

"Yeah."

"Alright, good to know," I said, nodding my head.

Once everyone was strapped in, the machine started reeling us backwards and the ground started to get farther away. We reached the top when the machine stopped. I was holding onto the rail in front of me for dear life because I was not a fan of heights.

"H-how do we get down?" I stuttered, as my hands were shaking.

"Sean has to unhook us," Kylie answers, and I look over to see Sean holding a clip with his eyebrows raised.

"You guys ready?" Sean asked, wiggling in his seat making the whole row shake.

"Sean I'm going to cry," I told him as he continued to shake us. I wrapped my arms around the bar, praying that God would not let me die today.

"On the count of three," Sean started. "One."

I wanted to at least go to prom. Graduate.

"Two."

Get married. Have kids.

There was a pause from Sean, and I flinched as I waited for us to plummet to our doom. "Two and a half."

"Sean!" I yelled at him.

I heard a clip and all of the sudden we were going down and I started screaming. Right before we hit the ground, we swung up on the other side and then started going backwards.

This would be really fun if it didn't go to the flipping sky.

Sean started laughing at my screaming, and I yelled at him to shut up. That only made him start laughing more.

"Let go of the bar!" the person yelled who as controlling the swing.

The bar was my only life support I had left. Without holding on to it, I felt like I would fall out of the seat and land onto the green grass.

Sean grabbed my arms and yanked them away from the bar and held them up in the air. The machine jerked back suddenly, and I felt myself starting to tip back. My arms started flailing as I reached out to grab anything to keep my balanced.

Which would have been Sean's torso.

"I'm going to pee myself," I whimpered out, which caused Sean to double over with laughter. With my ear pressed against his side, it sounded weird and different.

He had this scent on him that was a mix between the Abercrombie and Fitch store and sugar. As weird as it sounded to say it, the scent smelled amazing.

"Emily," Sean said, as his voice rattled through my ear. "The ride stopped."

I slowly unraveled my arms from him and looked up to see that my feet were just a couple inches from the ground. I let out a sigh of relief and told myself that I would never do that again.

The machine started to climb up again, and I looked at Sean in fear and a huge smile started to spread across his face.

"We decided to go twice before you came over," Sean explained to me as I clutched on the bar again for dear life.
