"Really?" Lily asked scoffing as James asked her out.

"Really?" Lily said angrily at James as she yanked his wand from his hand. "Sev did nothing to deserve a Bat Bogey Hex!"

"Really?" asked Lily after a childish prank was pulled off by James.

"Really?" Lily yelled after James pretty much ruined her friendship with Sev.

"Lily, I swear-"

"No! If you didn't have some - grudge, or - or something against him, none of this would have happened." Lily Evans shouted at her arch-enemy, James Potter.

"Lils-" James said, trying to pacify her. "No! Don't 'Lils' me!" she shot back. "Oh, come on, Lilyflower-" said James' best friend Sirius Black. Lily interrupted him too. "Don't get me started on you, Black. I'd bet my meter-long Transfiguration essay that you encouraged Potter to do this."

"Actually, I'll take that bet. I mean, you can't prove anything, and I'd love to submit Evans' O+ homework as my own." said Sirius musingly. Lily just scoffed and stormed up to the dormitory she shared with Marlene McKinnon, Mary MacDonald, and Alice Fortescue.

Remus Lupin looked up from his chess game with Peter Pettigrew. "Nice. I though you were trying to get her to go out with you." "Oh, quit it Moony." said James with a sigh. "I don't get why you can't do something more with Evans. She likes you, you're prefects together."

Peter bounced in his chair. "I'm sure she'll come 'round. No other girls refuse you." Sirius rolled his eyes at him. "Seriously, Wormy-" "Ahem?" James raised his eyebrows. "Sorry - Siriusly, Wormy, have you learned nothing in the past five years? Evans and Prongs are a perfect match. The most stubborn pair you'll ever meet!"

"Says you." muttered Remus to himself.

"Oi, what was that Moony? I didn't quite hear you."

Suddenly a door slammed open and Marlene was storming down the dormitory stairs. "McKinnon! Perfect timing! You, me, and a broom cupboard. What do you say?"

"Shut it Black," she growled. "Potter! I don't care if you're my cousin, I will hex you into next year if you don't tell me what you did!"

"It wasn't me! I swear, it was Snape! He called Evans a - a - a you-know-what! All I did was, y'know - serve justice! I was the knight in shining armor!"

Marlene raised an eyebrow as Alice and Mary came down the stairs and stood on either side, glaring at James.

"Okay, okay, I'm sorry! Geez, women, I'm doing my best!"

All three girls crossed their arms, looking at James with raised eyebrows.

"Right, right, so here's what happened . . ."

"Really?" said Lily disbelievingly as Alice recounted to her what she had heard from Dorcas Meadows, a sixth year. Apparently James had rescued Snape and saved his life! Like, really? Snape, Potter's arch-enemy?

"Yeah, so, seems like Sirius lured him to the Whomping Willow some how, and then he was almost killed but James rescued him."

"How'd Sirius lure Snape there anyway?" asked Mary, joining the conversation. Marlene looked up from the Daily Prophet, interested.

Lily slapped a hand to her forehead. "I know! Sev- I mean Snape- always suspected Remus werewolf. Black probably 'slipped' and let out that Remus left the grounds through the Whomping Willow."

Marlene furrowed her eyebrows. "Wait, does this mean you never told him?"

"Snape?" asked Lily. "Of course not. Remus told me during prefect duties, and he let me tell you guys, but I didn't ask about Se-Snape. I wasn't about to betray his trust! Now Snape's just so concerned about Remus, and where the rest of the Marauders go."

"Wait, why was James there anyway?" asked Mary, perplexed.

"Trust you to notice that, Mary." said Alice with a laugh. "None of us have that much attention to detail. Well, maybe Lily when it comes to homework."

"Really?" Lily sighed, as a loud Quidditch after-party was hosted by James in the Gryffindor common room. Gryffindor had just won the House Cup, and now crowds of cheering Gryffindors were hanging out and shouting madly in the common room. Lily had peeped out her dormitory door, but retreated quickly when she saw the bottles: ones that looked suspiciously like firewhiskey and mead.

It's not like Lily was a prude and hated alcohol, but they were fifteen! She didn't see why there had to be a bunch of drunk, underage teenagers in her common room. Besides, she was a prefect, and she didn't want to be held accountable for this.

Mary was the only one left in the dormitory. She preferred the quiet, though she liked parties when she was with her friends. However, seeing that Lily was staying upstairs, Mary decided to keep her company.

"How'd you think they managed to get the firewhiskey?" Lily asked her friend.

"Heaven knows!" said Mary shaking her head. "I know I won't be leaving our dormitory 'till late tomorrow - who knows how many people will be passed out. I'd rather wait until everything is cleared up."

"Why on Earth must Black and Potter host such wild parties?" sighed Lily.

Lily thought back on these memories as she rode the Hogwarts Express back home, to the muggle world. End of my fifth year, she thought. I've lost my best friend, but I've also not lost him because my enemy, James Potter, saved his life. But Potter's still being as annoying as ever and somehow smuggling alcohol onto the school campus. And I'm a prefect, and I had my O.W.L.s.

Lily sighed. "This has been an interesting year," she told her friends.

Marlene grinned. "Wonder what next year'll bring!"

A/N: So, first part of my Jily story, what do you think? This is my first story, so comments and suggestions are appreciated. I figured I'd write this since there seems to be few good Jily stories out there, or at least, I haven't found any. If you have suggestions on stories to read, both Jily and Hinny, that'd be nice!

One thing to note: Sorry wolfstar fans, my heart belongs to Blackinnon!

Also: There is no swearing in this story, and I'd appreciate it if you would leave swearing out of the comments as well.

I'll update when I can, but I can't promise regular updates, sorry!
