"Did you know about it?" Emil knelt by Klara's leg. He looked at her confused.

She nodded her head affirmatively. Tarhos let her go after Emil's words, who asked him to take care of Igor's body. He forbade him to kill whatever came back, only to immobilize the corpse. The family, meanwhile, took care of Kaja, who was still shaken. Emil rolled up her leg, wanting to look at the bite. The boy felt something, a pain in his chest. He wanted to kill Klara, but when it came to him that the girl would actually say goodbye to life, something hit him. He didn't understand why he still had any feelings for her when it had been dead for a long time. His dark side, however, did not allow him to show emotion. He was no longer the same Emil, living in the belief that feelings could not surpass common sense.

"Am I going to die?" She asked, hoping for a negative answer, but was disappointed.

"Dariusz died from a bite. We know it kills. It can take 24 hours." He couldn't and wouldn't comfort her. He was direct.

The girl accepted it. She had already thought about death when discovering the bite. Because of this, she wanted to convince Igor that they could all live together but that didn't work out because of his psychosis. She felt she had nothing to live for, so she didn't cared.

Emil lifted her off the ground and began leading her deeper into the plot. They reached under a small shed, freshly renovated before the apocalypse by Mikołaj with the help of his son. He opened the door and led Klara inside. There was no hole inside that the girl could escape through, and all the tools had also been taken away. So it was an empty room, perfect for a cell for one person.

"You will stay here. I won't risk it a second time."

"Will I at least get water?"

He left, slamming the door, ignoring Klara completely. He blocked the door with a wooden plank and walked around the shed one at a time to check if there was definitely no hole, and there wasn't. Suddenly he grabbed his stomach, feeling a burning pain. His wound was giving out again, and he had to crouch down for a while. He sat down next to the shed, leaning against it. He inhaled and exhaled. And so several times until he heard Klara's voice inside the shed.

"Are you all right?" she said to him through the wall of the shed, hearing him on the other side.

"Are you kidding me? The wound you contributed to hasn't healed yet. It hurts like hell."

"I'm sorry. I don't even know what to say. I've lost myself."

"We all get lost." He sighed, closing his eyes. "The world is fucked up and we're standing still, looking for a way to live like before. It's stupid."

"I get lost earlier. Choosing Igor's side, I thought I had a chance. But he was a prick."

"That's no explanation." He opened his eyes, almost going blind from the sun. "You have terrible taste. Anyway, I think I do too."

He leaned his head against the wooden wall of the shed, making a quiet knocking sound. He was tired. Igor's blood ran down his face, he wiped it off with a clean part of his blouse. Then he took it off when he started to get hot, staying in just a white strapless shirt. The sun came out from behind the clouds, warming the air to a sizzling heat. The silence lasted for a few brief moments, birdsong piercing through. He pondered about his future life, so far his head had been occupied by thoughts of Igor's murder, he had not looked so far ahead. He tried to get up from the ground and succeeded, though with great difficulty admittedly. Klara did not speak again so Emil did not wait any longer. The boy became weak which worried him. Deciding that he needed to examine his wound, he walked slowly back towards the house. Kaja and the rest of the family were still standing outside the house, talking. The girl was hugging her mother, also showing concern for her father's hand. Emil smiled seeing his sister safe as well as his parents and aunts alive. Even Dawid's situation did not grieve him, he believed Tarhos. They could finally all rest from the constant chase for their lives, at least until the next wave of corpses appeared. He passed them, intending to approach Tarhos, but his younger sister ran into him. Emil knelt down on one knee and hugged again, embracing Kaja.
