As I flip through a magazine, I sense someone addressing me. I look up to find the girl from earlier now seated beside me, asking something. "Did you say something?" I inquire gently. She seems a bit surprised by my question.
"Where are you headed?" she asks again after a brief pause. "I'm going to Jorhat. And you?" I respond, switching from formal to informal speech without much thought. Her name is Jorna, and she's just completed her higher secondary education and is off to further her studies. We talk about various things. I mention that I'm going to study MBBS in Jorhat, which makes her smile, lifting my spirits.
