Part 8: Look at Me!

                       Mack (POV)

The whole night, I couldn't sleep. It's not like I love him—if he's engaged, that's good. Then why am I not okay with that? I remember last night we were about to kiss, and now today, he's engaged. I felt uneasy, my heart aching intensely.

In the morning, I walked to my office. Lamine greeted me, and I didn't look at him, heading to my place and sitting down. He was looking at me through the window, the way I used to look at him, his eyes full of me. I couldn't bear it, so I pulled the window cover down to avoid eye contact.

I immersed myself in designing my dream car, focusing on the blueprint. There was a knock at my door, and I told to come in. It was Lamine. I glanced at him briefly and continued working.

Mack: Yes?
Lamine: Sir, this is the file where I need your signature. Today, our car is going to the showroom for sale.

I took the file and signed the paper. He stood there, looking at me.

Mack: Anything else?
Lamine: Ah, no. If you have time, can we have lunch together?
Mack: I don't think we can. I'm overloaded with work. Maybe some other day.

I returned to my work. After a few seconds, Lamine left. I knew I was harsh, but I couldn't help myself, I don't want to look at his eyes and fall deeply after knowing he is engaged. Then, my phone rang,an unknown number. I wondered who it might be and answered.

Mack: Hello, who is this?
Andry: Hi, it's me, Andry.
Mack: Hello, Mr. Andry. What a surprise! I was thinking of calling you after lunch to discuss our new project.
Andry: Wow, I'm happy to hear that. Anyway, let's discuss your project today at 3 PM. I have an hour free and thought to give you that slot.
Mack: Really? Sure, I'll be at your office at 3.
Andry: Great. See you today. By the way, wear a white shirt for the meeting.
Mack: A white shirt?(In a confusion thought)
Andry: White is my lucky charm, and I think you'll look hot in white.

He hung up after saying that, leaving me confused. Then, I called Nora and Lamine's team, as they are my engineers, for the meeting. We discussed the new project.

Nora: Sir, what a brilliant idea!
Femisa: Yes, sir. I'm really lucky to work under you. Your imagination for this dream car is incredible.
Lamine: Yes, I think we can work hard to make it a success.
Mack: Thanks, everyone. Now let's prepare for today's meeting with investors at 3 PM.
Nora: You got the investor?
Mack: Yes, it's The Dux.
Dilip: You mean Mr. Andry Kiplo?
Mack: Yes. He asked us to meet today.
Lamine: Andry??( Talking to himself)
Mack: Let's get back to work. Nora, prepare a white shirt for me.
Nora: A white shirt?
Mack: Yes, Andry said white is his lucky charm.

Nora looked as confused as I felt.

                    Lamine (POV)
Andry?? He told Mack to wear white? I know white is Andry's favorite color. I left the meeting room and sat on my chair, feeling extremely uncomfortable. The thought of Andry telling Mack to wear white, and Mack actually wearing it, was driving me crazy.

When we headed to the basement to go to Andry's office, Mack came down, and my eyes were glued to him. Everyone was looking at him—he looked so hot in that white shirt that my heart started racing, and my lips trembled, longing to kiss him. How can a man look this attractive that everyone falls for him?

Nora: Sir, you look fabulous.
Mack didn’t say a word, just smiled.
Now we were all at Andry's office. His secretary showed us the way to the meeting room. We sat and waited for Andry.

When Andry entered the room, Mack stood up and greeted him. Andry couldn’t take his eyes off Mack.

Mack: Mr. Andry, Mr. Andry.
Andry: Ah, hi, Mr. Mack... You look, ahm... nice to meet you.
Mack: Thanks.
Andry: Hello, everyone.
Mack: Please meet my team.

Mack introduced everyone to Andry. Andry welcomed us and gave me a smile. Mack started the presentation, delivering it so well that I couldn’t take my eyes off him. I noticed the way Andry looked at him; it was clear that Andry had fallen for Mack. Seeing that, I didn't like it.

The presentation ended, and Andry clapped his hands, praising the project and appreciating Mack's efforts. He announced that he really liked the presentation and decided to invest in this car project. Mack told him that in our next meeting, we would bring all the documents to sign and proceed with the work. We then left his office and headed back to our office. The entire time, Mack didn’t even look at me or say a word. He just sat in the car, focused on the file, while I sat beside him. Nora and Femisa were in the back, and Dilip was in the front with the driver.

My eyes were on him the whole time, but he completely ignored me. I could understand the feelings he had. Then we reached the office and started doing our work. It’s almost 9 o'clock now. Everyone left the office, I was waiting for Mack, I wanted to talk with him and talk about the engagement. While I was waiting I saw him going out of his cabin, he didn't look at me and walked out of the office. I went back to him and told him. " Senior, stop please"
He didn't listen to me and went inside the lift, I know he was ignoring me. I stopped the lift and went inside. He didn't looked at me.
Lamine: Senior why are you ignoring me? I was calling you
Mack: When did I? I just didn't listen and.. and don't call me senior in the office.
I was shocked what he said not to call him Senior. There was silent for a second then I spoke
Lamine: Can we talk?
Mack: If it's about work we can talk to tomorrow
Lamine: It's about us

Mack looked at me just as the lift doors opened. He stepped out without a word, leaving me standing there with the weight of unspoken feelings between us.
