The cobble streets stretched all the way down the lines of creaking houses. The sound of horse hooves against the stone echoed around, raising the attention of a couple of young children playing on the roads. They stared with awe as the grey horse moved past them proudly, it's rider sitting just as proud.

The knight was gowned in red, The colour of crimson blood. The armour beneath shined brightly in the sunlight, the emblem on the knights chest stood out, a knights helmet crested with a heart and wings to its sides.

The knight pressed forwards, ignoring the gathering crowd at his horses heels. Before him a great castle stood, the sun sat like a crown above it. The walls built tall and proud with stone, slits ready to use for battle.

The knight looked up, through the helmet that covered his eyes. Along the castles walls knights walked back and forth, guarding the premises and the people within. The knight shook his head smiling before his steed spooked. He halted it quickly, wiping his head around.

The crowd quickly backed away, all but one girl who looked back with terror in her misty eyes.

'What are you doing!' A voice hissed, the knight looked to the crowd where an older girl pushed her way through, grabbing the young girls arm.

'I'm so sorry sir, my sister is blind you see, she always wants to touch new things, and she loves animals-'

'You said it looked soft so-'

'Shhh!' The older girl hissed, hitting the younger girl.

'Please sir, forgive my sister, she will not get in your way again' the older girl hit her sister again, annoyance in her bright blue eyes.

'I-I'm sorry s-sir ... I really, really am, I didn't mean to scare your horse and-'

'Enough' the knight stated, the blind girl clung onto her sister trembling. The knight looked between the two girls,

'Make sure you watch her' the knight looked at the older girl, 'I forgive her for her interest, it's in a child's nature, but the next knight she crosses may not be so forgiving.' Motioning for the horse to move forwards the knight carried on, leaving the crowd, and two sisters behind him.

The doors of the castle swung open, the knight riding in. The people behind the wall differed from the people outside it. On the inside every passing person wore elegant gowns and noble armour. Even the floor was cleaner then the filthy outside world, the man remembered back to the two sisters, how filthy and rugged they looked.

'Why if it isn't my dear brother'

The knight stopped his horse as he watched a tall, elegant women walk towards him, her blonde hair resting against her shoulders and mysterious purple tinted eyes glistened with charade. She wore a long gown, glowing yellow like the sun.

'I wasn't expecting to see you on this fine day, what brings you to the kingdom?'

The knight dismounted from the horse, letting one of the men lead its way to the stable. The knight removed his thick, leather gloves and helmet.

'I was summoned'

'By the king?'

'His son' the knight smiled, 'surely with your power you could have foreseen my coming, seer?'

The woman smiled,

'My mind has been on other things' she replied gently 'I presume that is why you are here.'

The knight looked at her confused,

'Come, I will take you to the heir' the woman said, turning and walking to a large door, the knight followed willingly, helmet still in his hands.

The hall was large and grand, the banners which lined its walks were as bright blue as the sky, each crested with a symbol swirling into a beautiful design. At the end of the hall a throne stood grand and glorious, behind the coloured glass reflected rainbows across the room. The knight looked around, he remembered the place well, despite not seeing the place for the past 13 years of his life.

'Dave, I'm glad you have came.'

The knight turned to look at the door the other end of the hall, a man walked out, he was around the same age as him, dark, raven like hair made his blue eyes stand out more then they already did. The dark haired man embraced the knight, who returned the gesture.

'It has been a while old friend' the dark haired man said, straightening himself up again.

'A while to long' the knight replied smiling,

'I believe you have spoken to your sister' the blonde stepped forward from behind the dark haired man, smiling softly.

'I have' the knight nodded to his sister,

'She is a fine woman to have in this castle, speaks her mind'

'You have not changed then, Rose'

The dark haired man laughed, 'no, I'm glad she hasn't, it's nice to have something of old memories to still live on.'

Dave nodded,

'However, I believe my sisters well being is not something you have summoned me here for?'

A grave look suddenly covered the dark haired mans face,

'No, unfortunately it is not good news that you are here in our fair kingdom, but we shall speak tonight at dinner, Rose show our fair knight to his sleeping quarters that he will use while he stays.'

'Thank you, sir' the knight nodded,

'Oh come now David no need for the formalities, John will do.'

The knight nodded smiling, 'thank you, John' then he turned and followed his sister through the grand halls of the castle.
