Pamela stroked the hand of the girl lying calmly on the bed.
"How long will you sleep? It's almost morning."

Before she could get an answer a knock on the door interrupted her.
Cory had his arm in a bandage and Pamela stood up from her seat and came to him.

"How do you feel?"

Cory shook his head with a gentle smile "He is much worse."

"If master didn't come in time, things would be worse."

"Let's go outside. They need rest."

Pamela nodded and followed him out to the garden. It was quite peaceful back in the Zeda Palace as if nothing had happened the past few days.

Alfonzo, sage of illusion and Ada saw the young couple in the garden.

"They must be quite upset."

Ada rolled her eyes at him "Of course, me too. I don't know how you allowed our daughter to be in so much of danger."

He sighed "That guy was obsessed with her. He already had deep rooted hate for Derek and she also chose Derek. It was inevitable for her to get entangled in their fates. Please understand me Ada. Stop being angry with me."

Ada looked away still quite disappointed at him. But she knew he had his reasons. Eventually she turned to him "We sent our daughter to another world so she could evade the trouble and curse. But she was brought back again. It does seem inevitable after all."

Alfonzo stroked her hair "Don't worry, she will be fine. She won't have to go through pain again."

"Hmm... I can't tell her anything can I?" Ada asked in a small voice. She wanted to hear Edith call her "Mother" too but she knew it was better for her to know less.

He put an arm around her and comforted her "Don't worry dear. At least you can see her as much as you want now. She had grown up well... Our dear Edith."

I opened my eyes to the thin stream of sunlight entering the room through the gap of the thick curtains.
Moving my fingers, I found they were held inside someone's hand.

As if sensing my movement a large figure appeared above me. I smiled recognizing his face.

"Der..." I paused as he shook his head indicating me to be quiet. He handed me some water and helped me up to sit upright making me lean my back against his chest.

I didn't try to protest. I had seen the traces of tears on his face. He also looked distraught as if he hadn't eaten for days. I held onto his hand as he kissed my head lightly "You were out for so long, I thought I lost you again."

I patted his hand "I am fine... Really Derek. I am sorry I made you worry."

"No its fine. You are OK and that's all that matters."

I rested for a while and then remembered something "Right, what about Wendy? Is she OK?"

"How can you be worried about her? If it wasn't for her-" his cold tone made me worried about her. But my fear dissipated with Cory's familiar voice coming with the opening of the door "Don't worry, Edith. He didn't kill her off, I managed to stop it. She did help you?"

I nodded "Well, she was also just used by Reggie. Even Edgar tortured her yet if it wasn't for her I wouldn't have been able to escape from Reggie's guards.

Cory gave a triumphant look to Derek who ignored it. "Told you."

"Anyway Derek, there are still some stuff to be taken care of so can you-"
