"That was so stupid." Xavier demands angrily. Nursing my hand. "What were you thinking? There are rules you have to follow here, Ariel. But you didn't have to get up on that ledge." We returned to my bedroom, and he was pressing ice against my hand. The scarves have been put back into the closet, and so has the sweater. The bed has been made. It looks as if I was never here to begin with.
I glare. "Quit nagging me, Xie. It was stupid... I know."
"Can I ask why he had you up there?"
I glance at my feet. I can't tell Xavier. And then again, I shouldn't be worried about Persephone and Hades listening. It would keep Castiel bound to the Underworld, and it might get Harley in trouble. "No." I whisper. My voice cracked when I said it. My eyes water a little.
I kept having a flashback of Xavier saving me when Castiel caught Harley. The warmth of his hands. How his body pressed against mine. I want that warmth again.
"You were right about him." I didn't like the silence between us. I had to keep talking otherwise I might cry.
"I'm not the type to gloat." Xavier frowns. When our eyes meet, he's the first to look away. "I was scared when I saw you dangling off that ledge. If I didn't help you up when I did... " his voice trails off, and he shakes his head. "I should go. You know - preparations for the bash in a few hours."
I watched as Xavier got up, and walks towards the door. I set the ice pack on the bed, and got up to follow. "Xavier."
He turns. Hand on the knob. "Yes?"
"Thank you."
He winks. "Don't mention it, Miss Caverly."
Disappointment swept through my chest when he left. Miss Caverly? On the balcony, he'd said my name. Xavier held me close because he thought I was in danger. And now that our feet were safely on the ground... I collapse onto the bed.
I move my hand up, and graze my black and blue palms. Frowning, I sit up as there's a knock on my door. I glance at the door, leaving the evidence on the bed as the knock sounds again... Hopefully it's not Castiel. I don't want to punch him, again. But I won't hesitate in breaking his nose next time.
Nervous, my stomach churning, I open the door a crack and relax only slightly to find Harley standing in the doorway. She's alone. "Hey," she waves. "Is this a bad time?"
I open the door a little more. "N-no. Come in... How did you know where my room was?"
"I saw Xavier leave." She admits. She follows me inside, and looks around. "Wow, you should see my room." She glances at the ice pack on the bed. "Ariel, I just came by to... Um, how's your hand?"
I showed her. "I think my fist took the most damage." I showed her, lifting my shoulders in a small shrug. "I know you didn't just come by to ask about my hand."
"Well, no." Harley frowns. "That kiss was so awkward." She begins. "If you mention it to Xavier, Persephone will know." (Jasmine told her about what happened). "I mean, I've never really done that before and it felt so - so weird."
"I know. Me too. My lips are sealed with secrets." Pride. Pride. Pride. "Are you really going through with it tonight? Our first night here, and Castiel wants you to steal from his friends. He's an awful Prince."
Harley rolls her eyes. "God, he's not what I expected." She says. "There were condoms in his hide out, and I'm pretty sure I saw cocaine on the table."
