Over brunch, Castiel was fawning all over Jasmine and Ivana. Akari and I say silently side by side - each of us was glaring at them."Jesus, Castiel. Can you keep your tongue in your mouth through lunch-time?"
"Can't make any promises."
I drop my fork on the plate, and it clatters. Castiel and Jasmine both look at me, and I look towards Hades and Persephone. "May I be excused?" I look at Jasmine, and then I meet Castiel's waiting gaze. "I think my stomach is upset."
"Me too." Akari admits.
Hades nods. "Alright," he leans back in his chair. "Ariel, isn't it?"
I freeze. Akari does too. "Yes." I barely manage a squeak.
He leans back in his chair, and crosses his arms over his chest. "Why is that when there's always trouble... You seem to be in the middle of it?" Hades raises an eyebrow. "Care to explain?" When I stay silent, he says: "you know, I typically tend to stay out of drama revolving around my son . . . But my wife has been telling me about you."
"All good things I hope, sir?" There was an edge to my voice, and he didn't like it.
Hades smiles, exchanges glances with Persephone and leans forward ever so slightly when he turns to me, again. "If you're ever caught with one of my personal servants again -- "
"You'll have me thrown into the fields of punishment?" I rose an eyebrow. "I've heard this spiel of bullshit before. You can thank your wife for that."
"I'll throw your friend into the lake of fire, and then you're going to follow him and we'll all watch and cheer. And no matter how much you beg or cry or scream to me for mercy, I won't hear your cries."
"I have a better idea... Why not make her a servant, instead?" Castiel cuts in, leaning back in his chair. "Then, I can have her begging me." He winks.
"And allow that secret trouble?" Hades demands.
"The underworld can always use a little bit of entertaining trouble." He winks at me. Both his arms are occupied. They look so smug, and I hate them for it. "My choices are being made, and after all, pop, isn't that what you want?"
"What I want is for your ruling to be adequate." Hades corrects. "I expect you to handle punishment appropriately." His gaze lingers on me.
I rise from my chair and walk out.
My mind is pooling from Hades' threats. The way Castiel looked at me was like how he could look at a stranger. It was with anger and jealousy and knowing about what I've done, and he needs to know about what Jasmine has done.
Akari rushes out after me. "What in the hell were you thinking?" She pushes me against the wall. "Talking back to Hades like that? Are you crazy?"
"No," I narrow my eyes, and shove her away. "But you must be for attempting to touch me."
Akari smiles. "I'll see you at the bash, I'm sure."
I watch her as she walks away.
