"Hazel, so glad you could join us," Noah greets. She smiles as she enters the small meeting room. It has a large wooden circular table in the centre and the historic photos of the pack hang along the cream wall as.
She sits down at the table.
"Thanks for having me," she nods at Noah's Beta, Harrison and Third In Command, Andrew who are data prims the table with Noah,.
"We're just waiting on Quinton."
"He should be here in a minute, he was just buying some things from the market," Hazel opens the folder she brought with here. She has documented all the information she has collected over the last few months.
"It's really nice to finally meet you. Noah and Catrina both speak really highly of you," Andrew says with a small smile. He looks young. Clearly new to the role. He has long shaggy hair that falls into his eyes and prominent cheek bones giving him a boyish look.
"It's nice to meet you too. You look a lot like your dad. Is he enjoying retirement?"
"Oh yeah, he loves it. But has been helping us a lot recently though with all that has been going on."
The door opens and Quinton steps in. "Sorry for being late. I got talking to Alice at the fruit stand and once you get her talking there's no stopping her," he laughs and takes the empty seat next to Hazel.
"Good ole Alice. Now that you are here, let's get started," Noah smiles and looks over to Hazel. "Tell us what you know."
"Ok, so this is all from memory so just bare with me. I've drawn out a rough map of my pack lands. Currently, this is where Hays is residing. He's trying his hardest to get everyone in line but I think it's taking longer than he thought. His security is strong and they are all rogues. But over here, there's a gap and it's only monitored by one guard that walks around 30 metres that way and back," she circles the area with her finger. "I think if your army is well prepared this would be the best point of entry. I also reckon with the Dreamlanders and the Dustfall members within will back us up too. Almost doubling our numbers when we attack. But we cannot do this without sliver. That is their advantage."
"Ok, this is good. You're right about the pack members they will stand with us," Quinton agrees. "How's the hunt for sliver going Noah?"
Noah sighs leaning back in his chair. "Not great. We got a few crates. But the market for them is slim pickings. I don't know where Hays is getting them all but clearly has a direct contact."
"Then we need to find where is he getting them from and block him from getting anymore," Harrison speaks up. He's older than Andrew, has a shaved head and a short salt and pepper beard.
"Yes, we need to boycott him. Without his constant supply it will weaken his defence," Hazel flips the page over in his binder. "I overheard him talking about Fishers Town and collecting supplies from them. I don't know if that is where he collects the sliver from, but it could be a good place to start."
"Good plan. We can gather some pack members and they can go investigate," Noah states.
"Hazel and I could go with," Quinton says smiling at Hazel. Noah looks over to Hazel silently asking her if she wants to go. She nods.
"It's a good idea."
"Perfect. You guys can set off sometime tomorrow. I'll gather some pack members. Fishers is only like an hour away from here, it'll be best to go by car, more discreet. Especially, as there is a lot of humans living there," Noah scribbles some notes down.
"I think what would also be a good plan is to have someone from the inside to give us intel. Like Hays did to us," Quinton gently places his hand on Hazel's arm, softly smile. Her heart skips a beat. "Hazel got any idea who and how we could communicate with them?"
"There's Darcy or Easton. They're both on my land. But like I said that is where Hays is operating. And there's Ezra, although he betrays us, he came and found me the other day."
"What? He was here on MY land?" Noah asks, he brows furrowed and shoulders tense.
"Yes. He said he wanted to help. That he was wrong. I don't trust him but he is the only one who would be able to leave and not be questioned. He's not a prisoner there, Darcy and Easton are," Hazel pushes her hair behind her ears.
"That's strange..." Noah trails off. "What is he trying to do? Why betray everyone for Hays to then want to flip the switch and betray Hays?"
"I don't know..."
"I've known Ezra all his life and his recent actions don't make sense. He has always been loyal to Dustfall pack and never stepped out of place. His betrayal really came out of nowhere," Quinton looks down at his lap. A wave of sadness comes over Hazel as she looks at his heartbreaking frown.
"So, did my Dad's. I don't even know where he is. I haven't seen him since that night," Hazel and Quinton stare back at one another. Quinton places a gently hand on her knee under the table.
"Yeah, that betrayal was also odd. Your dad was always so loyal to Dreamlanders," Noah frowns.
"I don't know either. He even led me into a trap. And there isn't a day where I don't think about why he did it. Yet, I have never come up with anything," Quinton squeezes her knee reassuringly.
"Maybe we could talk to him too. Convince him to help us," Noah suggests. Hazel shakes her head.
"Let's leave him out of this. I fear he won't be as honest as Ezra and he would just pretend to go along and betray us once again."
"Ok, so if Ezra approaches anyone again we will with caution use him to our advantage," Noah states.
Everyone nods in agreement.
