Samy could not stop thinking about the prior incident that occurred a few hours ago. The image of Maxie's frail body getting torn flashed inside her mind as did Zane ferociously sinking his knife straight down at Coach Murphy's knee. Zane had decided to pull a risky move against the man with the knife Samy had given him. She admits that her brother did indeed help their group stand a chance against the deluded man due to the sudden stunt he pulled. But that wasn't necessarily what kept gnawing at her mind. It wasn't just because of the weapon Zane carried around with him now.It was the cold look that Samy had seen wash over her brother's face after committing the act. It made Samy shudder at the thought of Zane possibly giving in to the barbarity of things that quickly settled in at their newly diseased world. She still wanted her brother to have the chance to experience a normal childhood like any other kid should. She strongly believed that his childhood years shouldn't have to come to an end like this. Samy was going to do everything she possibly could to give Zane the life he deservingly needs. Even if the infection continues to ruin the world they live in, it will at utmost not stop Samy in having to give her brother the best that she can offer. She wanted to make sure that her brother would not lose his morals with the way things are turning.
The group of teens waited patiently inside the math classroom for time to pass by. Most of them such as Alyssa and Amina decided to get some nightly shut eye along with a few others for the next day that's about to come. The rest of the group were either trying to get some sleep or conversing quietly with one another, such as Samy's two beloved friends who stood there talking to each other at the far end of the class beside Fabian and Zane. Samy was left on her own for a while as she previously wanted to collect her thoughts on everything that has happened since they left the third floor. Not to mention also having to meet the newly found freshman that had recently joined their party.
Samy spots her brother standing with Maia, Winston and Fabian. Zane had left his backpack sitting on a desk chair. She's recently noticed that Zane hadn't touched one comic book of his for almost the past two days. She got up from her desk and walked over to see what they could be discussing about. It was clear from the looks on her friends' faces that they showed no signs of fatigue regardless of the traumatic events they had to go through before.
She softly smoothes Zane's black hair, "You should be sleeping right now". Zane shakes his head away from her to prevent his sister from repeating the action.
"I'm not tired", Zane says a little too harshly. Samy gave him a concerned look.
Samy glances towards Maia and Winston. Maia shared the same worried glance as she could clearly see the dark circles Zane carried under his eyes. Samy carefully placed her hand on Zane's shoulder, she was getting kind of tired of her brother refusing to accept her guidance.
"Zane, what you did earlier was... good to some extent. It was good with how you distracted that man from hurting any more of us. I will admit that you did use that knife of yours pretty fairly, but let me tell you this. It was a dangerous stunt that you pulled, you could've gotten yourself hurt", Samy deliberately says to her brother.
Zane's eyebrows narrowed at the girl above him, "I don't care if it was dangerous, I did what I had to do. I saved all of us from getting any more people killed"
Samy sighs, already trying not to lose her patience, "No, you didn't have to do any of that. Zane, you're only eleven years old. I understand that you only wanted to help, but there is something I want to bring up to you regarding that fact. I noticed a strange look appear on your face after injuring that man's leg today"
Zane waits for his sister to continue speaking, wondering what she meant by that. "I didn't see any fear strike you at all when you committed that act, not even a hint of remorse. It's like you didn't mind what you did to him which if i'm being completely honest with you Zane, it scares me", Samy told him.
