October 15, 2010"Watch out Nettie, don't slip!", Samy warns her. The young girl nervously watched her best friend as Nettie jumped over the giant rain puddle that separated the two girls apart. It was heavily pouring outside near their school on this cold autumn day. All of the kids had been dismissed and free to head back to their kindred homes. The two young girls had stopped walking on the sidewalk once they came across the terrific rain puddle, which had encouraged Nettie to want to play a small little game. Nettie had managed to jump over to Samy safely without getting herself splashed by water. The brunette let out a relieved sigh as her best friend now stood beside her.
Nettie gives her a courageous smile, "Did you really think I would fall?"
Samy nodded with a pout on her face wanting to form, "Yes!"
Nettie giggles back in response. "I will never fall down that easy Sam", she gives a soft smile that calms Samy's nervousness down. Samy wore her yellow rain jacket while Nettie wore a red one, the two girls stood out like ketchup and mustard. The girls picked up their pace and met with Samy's mother, who's car was parked ahead. She is then seen to get out of the car once the girls were in close range, the woman raises an umbrella up as raindrops continue to pour from the dark cloudy sky.
"Come on girls! Get in the car", Samy's mom ushered the two inside. Once they're all inside, Samy and Nettie pull their hoods down. "How was school for you two?", the woman asks. The two girls answered excitedly at the same time to which the woman laughed. She turns on the car and begins to drive out onto the road that will eventually lead them back to Samy's home.
"Are your parents informed about you staying over today sweetie?", the woman looks to Nettie from the rearview mirror, the dark haired girl nods her head in response. "Yeah, they both know", Nettie says. The girl couldn't lie to herself or to anyone, she was more than exhilarated to be spending the rest of the day at her best friend's house. She wished that everyday was like this for her. The car takes a turn down a familiar street that Nettie already knew too well. Samy's house was seen from afar in the neighborhood. Samy's mother parks in their driveway, the two girls quickly get out of the car and bolt straight towards the front door.
The woman shakes her head with a smile plastered onto her face, she takes out her house keys and unlocks the front door for the kids to enter inside. "Make sure to hang up your rain jackets by the door", she informs. And so they both do, Samy and Nettie take their jackets off and leave them on the coat hanger.
"Back already?", the voice of Samy's father is heard from inside the kitchen. Toddler Zane was seen playing with his toys in the living room, he looks up at the girls' arrival, instantly beaming when he sees his sister finally at home. The toddler boy wore a diaper with a black shirt on top, he threw his arms up for Samy to embrace him which she more than gladly did.
"Hey Z!", Nettie waves at the little boy. Samy's mother smiles dearly at them both and especially at Zane who appeared to be joyful at having his sister be present with him.
The two kids begin to smell a delicious scent coming from the dining room so they both sprinted over to explore it. There, the little girls' eyes lit up with delight as they glanced at an open box of pizza that was set down onto the dining table. Samy's dad walks into view, he ruffles through Samy's brown hair with his hand, causing some of the girl's top hairs to stick up. They both shared the same hair color and eyes, Samy was almost like a mini version of her father according to her mom.
"Eat up you two! The pizza is waiting!", Her dad gleefully says. Samy does not hesitate to sit down and grab a slice herself. Nettie follows her motion, however as she grabbed her own plate of pizza, she couldn't help but feel worried about what her own mother would potentially say if she were to see her consume this type of food. She was afraid of taking a bite, deeply knowing that her mother would only force her into letting her smell her breath once she went back home later so that she could find out what the little girl had eaten prior. She's done it before, her mother went as cruel as to even force her young child to puke out the 'bad' food that she wasn't ever supposed to eat.
