I wake up and decide to work from home until It's time to get ready for my date,

Date? The word rolls off my tongue like It's made up.

I haven't been on a date In so long, I don't know what to wear or say, I don't know anything about this man.

Except that he's freakishly hot.

~

I practically spend the whole day making fake senecios on what could happen tonight and by the time my alarm goes off to start getting ready I haven't written a single word.

I spend time doing my makeup and curling my hair, slip on my long black fitted silk dress, with matching heels and the only pair of diamond earrings I own.

Perfect.

I haven't gotten ready like this in years,
It feels like a whole new me.

I grab my purse and head out the door, luckily everything around my apartments is walking distance so I never had the need for a car.

I walk on the sidewalk filled with dead leaves, It's autumn and the trees are so pretty.

As I make my way Into the restaurant that he sent me the details of while I had been sleeping, once seated at my table that he had set up reservations for,

I check the time.

8:06

He should be showing up any minute, I touch up my makeup and hair and fix my posture.

~

8:16

Ive had to ask the waiter to wait twice already. I wish he would've let me know that he would be late.

but things come up, I understand.

8:26

Almost a full 30 minutes late.
I've texted him twice but got no response.

Here I am, sitting In a restaurant all dolled up getting stood up.
Great. I guess In a way it's my fault for not knowing it was too good to be true.
He probably overheard Tony teasing me and asked for my number as a joke.

"Hey pretty lady, mind if I sit?"

Im about to tell the stranger to go away but when I turn around Its him,
he came.

I can't hide the smile as he takes my hand and kisses It apologizing for being late,

"I was at a get together with my buddies and lost track of time."

"It's fine, It's not like I had anything better to do tonight anyways."

He examines me from my face down to my chest, and legs,

"You look beautiful."

My face is bright pink, I don't know why Im so nervous, he's so charming, and tall.

Nothing like my Ex's.

He takes a seat, he's dressed very nicely In a dress shirt and dress pants, he looks straight out of an office job.

we order our food and he's the one to break the silence,

"I see you working In the cafe often, what's your job?"

"Im an author."

He smiles but continues looking at me like he doesn't believe me and expects me to tell him im joking but when I don't say anything else he speaks,

"That's cute. So, you still live with your parents?"

"No, Im grown, what makes you think that?"

"Well, I just don't see how you could make a living out of writing stories."

He looks like he doesn't realize he's said something disrespectful, so I ignore it.

"Well what do you do for work then?"

He looks at me like it's obvious,

"I have an office job, Im the COO to be exact, soon to be CEO."

He says it proudly but im not impressed,
office jobs don't amuse me In the slightest. Im the type of person who thinks as long as you love your job, you'll never have to work a day In your life.

Our food comes and it smells amazing.

The rest of the date went amazingly though, he asked me about myself, payed for everything even after I offered, walked me to his car and opened the door for me, and drove me home.

He walks me to my apartment room with his hand on my hip, we say goodnight and he leaves, no kiss or anything?
