Waking up I woke with a pep in my step as today was the derby today. I was so excited. Quickly getting dressed I headed down the stairs grabbed a quick breakfast and headed to the carriage. I sat there for about 20 minutes until my family walked out."Wow Ophelia you're really excited huh?" Roland asked me and I quickly nodded my head. Bouncing in my seat, we couldn't leave yet though because amber was still getting ready. Getting out of the carriage I ran back to the castle. "Amber you must make haste, I don't wanna be late for the derby!" And after about ten minutes we were on our way with Amber sitting next to me.
"Oh, I hope we're not late!" I said as I check my watch in my pocket. "We'd already be there if Amber didn't take so long to get ready." James scoffed and Amber just flipped her hair, "Princess AmberI had to find my Derby tiara. That's the best thing about the Flying Derby, everyone dresses up."
Looking at Amber weird I said, "No, the best thing about the Flying Derby is the race, duh. It's my favorite sport in the whole." My mom laughed and said, "Ophelia use to pretend to race using our old mop as her flying horse." I looked at my mom crazy, "Mommm I was 8, anyways do you think we can we go any faster? I don't want to miss anything." I asked turning to Roland. "Coachman, better take the high road." He said smiling at me. And thats when we were shot into the air.
Upon arrival we sat in our box and I looked eat the racers and smiled, "We're just in time. The race is starting." I clapped as I sat down. The horns played as I looked at the riders. Then they lined up and then they were off. I couldn't take my eyes off of them. "You know, Ophelia, royal prep has a flying derby team, too." Turning to James I got excited. "It does?" James nodded his head and sat back in his seat. "There's a tryout race next week. And we start practicing for it tomorrow. You could come watch, if you want."
Amber then join into the conversation. "I'm going. Prince Hugo will be there. He's the best rider in the whole school." James looked offended and looked to his sister. 'Uh, excuse me I'm as good as Hugo." Amber made a face at her brother, "Oh really, you didn't even make the team last year." Looking back to the race James looked determined, "This year will be different." Tuning back to the race, the maneuvers they did amazed me, "Look at them go! What a great race! Whoo-hoo! Yeah!, it would be so much fun to ride in the Flying Derby." As the race concluded and the winner was crowned Amber stood next to me, "You should come watch Flying Derby practice at school tomorrow." Smiling and thanking about it I said, "Hmm... Maybe I will."
The next day I went to school and it was time for the practice and I was excited. I arrived just in time and I went over to Amber. "Hey, Amber!" I said smiling, "Huh? Sofia!Glad your hear." I then saw the boys circling. I walked over there. "Good morning! Who's ready to race some flying horses?" I got excited, "Good morning, Sir Gilliam." He. looked at me weird. "Oh. Hello, Princess. The bleachers are right over there." I looked over there and back to him, "Uh well, I didn't come to watch, Sir Gilliam, I came to try out for the team." Then the other princesses and princes exclaimed a what in surprised. "Uh, what... What's wrong?" I asked, then this prince with dark hair smirked at me, "Um, only princes can ride in the Flying Derby.
Pushing past him I looked to Sir Gilliam. "So, princess can't try out?" He didn't really give me a answer, and stubbled with, "Well... They could, but..." Amber finished with "But they don't. The Flying Derby is just not a Princess thing." The princess and princesses explained we don't do, and were not supposed to mix.
They suggested I should pick flowers or read, but I didn't want to do that. I even got on the practice horse, but fell off and got caught by Sir Gillian, I had left after that as I didn't want to be continued lectured by my siblings. After school I hurried to my room and flopped on my bed.
