Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.
That was how the world identified Tony Stark.
But deep down, Anthony Stark was just a boy who lost his parents, never received the proper love of his father and a man who was infatuated with a girl much younger than him.
Tony Stark didn't know what it was to be loved or to love properly. The Tony Stark that people knew was just a mask, and there were only a handful of people who could see through it. Among those were Happy Hogan, Pepper Potts, and James "Rhodey" Rhodes—three people who definitely deserved an award for putting up with him.
Tony's workshop had always been off-limits to everyone except Pepper, given that she was his secretary and now she literally was doing half of the CEO's work. Amidst the mess of tools, papers, coffee stains, and grease, one picture stood out. It was a spotless picture frame that contained an image of Tony, Rhodey, and a raven-haired girl, smiling brightly at the camera.
The reason for keeping that picture was a reminder of what he wanted, and what he longed for. Meanwhile, the raven-haired girl in the picture stayed far away from his reach.
Iliana Song was not just a name for Tony Stark. The girl, years younger than him, was a writer wise beyond her age, with a charm that no one could deny—not even him. She had an attitude that could put people in their place and eyes that could look deep into someone's soul.
Iliana Song was a literary genius. She had a way with her words on paper but not in her life. Jumping from foster home to foster home from a young age shaped her into a calculative and cunning individual. She knew when and where to say things, but her sharp tongue often got her into trouble, and her charm was what helped her out in most situations.
Born on 4th June 1984, Iliana was the cause of her mother's untimely demise—death due to excessive bleeding during childbirth—and with a nonexistent father and no family whatsoever, she was thrust into the foster care system.
Foster homes made her resilient. In high school, she wrote a paper on one of her favorite authors. A few days later, the said writer came to find her after reading that paper and proposed that she write his biography. This chance encounter changed her life, propelling her into the world of literature. Her name slowly became famous in the world of literature after writing his biography at 16.
By 18, she was one of the best authors of her generation. Sponsored by many wealthy patrons, she was hired to write more biographies. By 20, she was a celebrated author, having penned three acclaimed biographies and had started writing her own book, a fantasy thriller, vastly different from what people imagined her to write. Two years later, she released the first book in the trilogy, which was a huge success and a worldwide bestseller that has been translated into over 8 languages.
Her higher studies were completed by the time she was 22. She had already made a name for herself in the world of fame and success, with a spacious apartment and a car with a driver always on standby.
But was all she had just luck or something more?
Despite her success, Iliana remained grounded. She never let fame get to her head, always remembering the little girl who had to fight for everything she had. Her success story was not just a result of luck; it was the culmination of hard work, resilience, and an indomitable spirit.
Tony often wondered about Iliana's life beyond her achievements. He had read her books, marveling at her ability to weave complex characters and intricate plots. Her writing revealed a depth of understanding of human nature that resonated with him. He saw in her stories the same longing and loneliness that he felt within himself.
She had a very lonely childhood. After all, she was too busy surviving rather than living. Perhaps it was this similarity that drew Tony to her—the way they both hid their pain behind a radiant smile. Despite the hardships, Iliana always managed to exude a warmth that captivated everyone around her, including Tony.
For Tony, Iliana was the Sun. She illuminated the darkest corners of his soul.
But he didn't yet know that Iliana was also a force to be reckoned with, capable of burning anyone who dared to cross her.
