the next day, jisung is walking through the glass doors of school, swaying to the music coming from his earbuds.

he stops in his tracks when he sees a huge crowd of people around his locker, trying to get someone attention.

jisung takes his earbuds out and pushes through the crowd.

"sorry, sorry. hi, sooyoung. sorry. excuse me," he says politely as everyone makes a path for him.

when he arrives at the scene, his eyes widen and his jaw drops.

"hyunjin-hyung?" jisung asks, startled. there is a tall figure leaning against his locker, his long, bright red hair swaying as he tried to refuse peoples' phones.

"sorry, i'm not interested," he says, politely waving his hands and smiling apologetically. when he hears his name, his ears cutely perk up and he swivels around to be met with an admiring jisung.

"sungie!" hyunjin exclaims, smiling, "do you like my hair?"

when jisung stays silent for a long time, hyunjin starts to get nervous and doubt his decision.

was i too impulsive? but... he was staring at his hair...

finally, jisung says something that relieves hyunjin.

"woah..." is all jisung can make out, coming closer to touch hyunjin's hair.

"you look hot~," the younger says teasingly, unaware of how it affected hyunjin.

hyunjin just stared at jisung, frozen in place as he felt the latter's hot breath on his face, their faces inches apart. he stares at his lips, unconsciously licking his own. he'd forgotten about the crowd around them, it felt as if they were in a different world.

and when jisung complimented him, oh boy, did he get excited. he embarrassingly felt his pants tighten and he bit his lip.

he glanced around. no one was focusing on him, so they couldn't have noticed, right?

fuck, i'll have to deal with this later.

"-ung? hyung!" jisung shook his best friend's shoulders, bringing him back to reality. the crowd around them had dispersed when they realized they wouldn't be stealing hyunjin's attention from jisung.

hyunjin blinked. "oh, sorry," he said sheepishly, rubbing the nape of his neck.

jisung rolled his eyes, grasping hyunjin's big hand. "hurry up, we're gonna be late! ms. gu will kill us!" he exclaimed, dragging a numb hyunjin down the halls.

in the classroom, the students chatter as they wait for the teacher to arrive.

as hyunjin and jisung settle down in their new seats, a crowd of girls and boys alike swarm their desk, completely disregarding jisung.

"hyunjinnie-oppa! your hair is so sexy..." one girl said, batting her lashes and adjusting her blouse, making hyunjin gag.

"wow, your hair looks good, hyung," said a boy, stars in his eyes.

"red suits you, oppa!" another girl shouted from the back of the crowd.

as more and more people gathered, jisung felt increasingly uncomfortable.

suddenly, jisung felt as if he was falling back in his chair. he gasped and closed his eyes, preparing for the impact, but he felt a hand grab his arm.

hyunjin pulled jisung off the falling chair, making the crowd of students make room for the chair to thud against the wood floor.

"are you okay, sungie?" hyunjin asked earnestly, looking into jisung's eyes.

when jisung noticed his hand was still in hyunjin's grasp, he quickly nodded and blushed.

the elder glared at something behind jisung, making him turn.

"what do you think you're doing, younghee?" he asked, his voice turning cold.

jisung turned around, coming face to face with a girl around his height, blonde hair, and way too much mascara.

it's her... jisung remembered the girl from when he had tried to compliment minho's hair. does she compliment everyone who changes their hair?

younghee pushed past jisung, going up to hyunjin and clinging to his arm.

just as she had done with minho.

"you look good, jin-jin-oppa..." younghee said suggestively, swaying her hips so she could rub on hyunjin's chest.

before younghee could reach up her finger to twirl his hair, hyunjin caught her arm. "don't touch it," he growled.

younghee pouted and whined, "why not?" childishly swinging her body from side to side, deliberately rubbing her breasts on hyunjin's arm.

hyunjin scowled, his eye twitching as he tried to contain his annoyance. "please get off me," hyunjin said clearly, making the crowd of students quickly hurry off, realizing that hyunjin was seriously pissed.

younghee frowned in annoyance. why won't he just buy it? she glanced at jisung, scowling at him. it must be because of him. he did something to hyunjin.

the scowl didn't go unnoticed by jisung. he nervously gulped and looked away in discomfort.

hyunjin noticed this and frowned. "get off, jeon younghee."

younghee's attention returned to hyunjin, the hatred in her eyes turning into sadness. "why? you always do this kind of stuff with jidumb, or whatever his name is..."

she pouted cutely, her bottom lip sticking out.

hyunjin's face twisted in disgust. he pushed her off, harder this time. the blonde stumbled back, her lips twisted into a scowl.

younghee rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "what's so special about him? why can't you touch me like that? i'm a girl and he's a boy for pete's sake! that's not norma-"

*SLAP*

silence.

the chatter in the room completely ceased. jisung stared at hyunjin in shock.

he slapped her.

hyunjin was seething with rage, his face red and his ears fuming. "what the fuck did you just say?" he asked, almost a whisper.

a shiver went down jisung's spine, making his hands shake in nervousness. no one in the class dared to utter a single word.

younghee was on the floor, a red hot mark on her cheek. she cradled it, tears tracing her face.

"w-wha-, why would you do that?" she sobbed. but no one came to help her.

if glares could kill, younghee would have been dead by now.

jisung pursed his lips and went to hyunjin, softly putting his hands on the elder's arm. the redhead snapped out of his trance and his eyes softened.

"it's okay," was all jisung said, picking up his seat and sitting, dragging hyunjin down to his seat.

jisung wasn't really scared of hyunjin. he had no reason to be scared that he would do something to him.

why? because he never has.

hyunjin always looked out for him, no matter what. jisung had never been on the receiving end of his wrath.

though, he had to admit, just watching the elder get angry was not a pretty sight.

as the teacher walked in, the tension in the class was cut.

"alright, class! sorry i'm late. let's start, shall we?"
