I was giddy with happiness. It had been three weeks since Levi had confessed his feelings to me. Three perfect, flawless weeks. Thoughtlessly, I reached up to touch my lips, which felt swollen and tender. Immediately I began to giggle.

"Eck, seriously ______, you're starting to creep us out." Mikasa stated.

"I think it's cute." Armin replied with a smile. He nudged my shoulder, giving me a thumbs up under the table. Eren said nothing. His usual bright and cheerful demeanor hard turned dark and moody. He would hardly speak to me, and it seemed that the only reason he spent any time with me was because the presence of Mikasa and Armin. A part of me wondered why he was so upset. The other part of me was on cloud nine, and was too preoccupied with a certain someone to care.

I started smiling again just at the thought of him.

Speaking of...

"Sorry, but I'm going to head outside. I think I need some fresh air." I said. Armin nodded, Mikasa rolled her eyes then flashed me a smile. Eren acted as if he hadn't even heard me. Biting my lower lip, I gave my friend a final glance before leaving the table and heading outside.

Levi was going to meet me in the stables today. My heart raced at the thought of seeing him again- of his dark hair and flashing eyes. He smelled like lemons and mint of all things, with a slight hint sweat. God, I needed to see him again. I couldn't stop thinking about him when we were apart for too long.

Entering the stables, I headed to the second stall from the back on the right. It the only one kept empty- home to nothing but bales of hay. I took a seat, leaning my head back against the wall and staring out into the corridor in anxious anticipation.

Then I heard the soft thud of the door closing and the sound of footsteps drawing nearer. My heart raced.

"Levi?" I called, but there was no reply. Fear began to scratch at the edges of my consciousness.

"Levi, this isn't funny." I called. Again, no reply, only this time, the footsteps came to an abrupt halt. My heart leapt into my throat, and I glanced wildly around in the darkness, pressing myself against the wall.

I hate this...

My heart thudded wildly, my skin growing cold as the ominous silence continued.

I hate this!

"Lev..." I started, but was abruptly cut off by a sudden motion to my left. Before I could move, a cool hand was pressed against my throat and I was gazing into a pair of bright green eyes.

"Eren?" I gasped, all the panic evaporating as I gazed into his familiar face.

"Haha, you caught me!" Eren laughed, pulling away. "You made it way to easy, I just had to!" I reached up, rubbing my neck.

"I guess I did, didn't I." It was a strange practical joke, but I felt relieved that I hadn't been in any serious danger. My entire body was still shaking in fear. Eren turned, heading towards the corridor.

"Come on, let's go back to the others." He said. I stood to follow him, but just before I stepped out of the stall Eren slammed his hand across the doorway, blocking my path.
